Honestly, your boss probably feels like they have to say that. There were a lot of Germans that hated Hitler but were too afraid to speak out. If anyone leaked an email where your boss was critical, they'd be cancelled.
I think what is likely to happen is that a lot of these white people virtue signaling are getting scared and they will be going in to the voting booth casting a vote for Trump if he can manage to stop these riots, no matter how much they disagree with him on other stuff. Fear makes you put everything else on the back burner. Then they will be on social media ree-ing about how could America re-elect him when they know all along that they pulled the lever for him. Maybe that's even what happened when Hillary lost.
