There's a league of difference between Rand and Sowell. To some extend Sowell was respected within right-wing circles and was a more or less respecable intelligent black man. Rand was a jewish woman with a cult and shit philosophy who wanked over the term 'philosophy'.

From a psychological point of view:
It's group think in the end, they get pulled into it and lose their own idenity to the groups identity. This is escalated by the long amount of time with social isolation due to covid lock down. Group think can easily head into mass hysteria in some situations.

Lockdown and social isolation itself escalated suicide, paranoia, etc. in people who never would have exhibited it. All it took was something to set it off. Add to that lockdown being lifted you get people NEEDING social situations and group think is a great social situation if you feel isolated now your part of a community and identity going towards a common goal. Curfew added would have escalated it even more.

Don't even have to mention how easy it be to instigate and make it worse. Situations fucked and the more attention it gets from branding etc. the more their point of view and group think gets reinforced.

I'd say this one has some truth to it maybe, if only because like I posted earlier about my neighbor finding a post on Facebook about targeting our random ass small town in Bumblefuckville with only one note worthy thing about it.
Everyone who lives in a small community should be staying vigilant and talking to their neighbors whether it's online or IRL, because these animals are on the fucking move and they don't give a fuck who they hurt in the process.

I can neither confirm nor deny stuff like that; but it wouldn't surprise me. In SoCal there's an area called the high-desert, and until the past decade or so has been mostly considered hick/shit-hole towns (big city residents have been moving in, because they can't afford to live in the glamorous parts of SoCal). So come to find out, one particular shit-hole named Barstow is under curfew tonight (1800 - 0600) and businesses are boarding up their windows. This is a piece of shit nowhere town whose only two accomplishments are 1. Being the origin of Del Taco (it matters if you're in SoCal) and 2. Being the half-way point between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. The same thing is happening in Adelanto which is even more out of the fucking way and more like a group of housing tracts and strip malls that just so happen to be in the same geographical area instead of a real town. There's even talks of doing a protest in Kingman AZ, which is only a place of note is because that's where Timothy McVeigh was from. There's fuckery about, and wouldn't be surprised if paid instigators are starting shit up.

The thing about defensive shootings is that you have no way to know how your adversary is going to react to anything you do. Often an attacker will retreat as soon as a gun comes out, but remember our friend Sword Guy who got beat down after his assailants were undeterred by a man coming at them with a blade. Even if you start shooting, it's not uncommon for people in high-stress situations to not realize when they've been shot. Now factor in mob mentality and the general chaos keeping people from getting a good read on the situation, and you've got a recipe for a very ugly situation.

If I were a store owner and my door was getting smashed in, and merely aiming my gun at them wasn't enough, then I wouldn't bother with warning shots; I'd keep shooting until every last looter was on the floor or running.
