Some of them are also saying that if we say they can't riot because it's illegal, then also revolting against the British was and see, they achieved freedom. Sure but afaik when the Americans revolted against the British, their first instinct wasn't to go and burn their own (American) places.

A year or two ago, Australia passed legislation allowing for the ADF to be deployed internally, to combat "domestic violence" ('Domestic violence' presumably being politi-speak for "internal threats"). Understandably, some groups and parties like The Greens (they're a laughing stock at times, but even a broken clock is right twice a day) were concerned about the implications of this.
