Anyone who looks even slightly suspicious in a place (like a black guy) like that will catch a beating. And prices are even more expensive, since Mr. Kim and Juan are passing their protection fees onto their customers.

My boyfriend's company is having their employees work at other stores while his is closed. We haven't seen or heard how bad the damage is at his store yet but the building is still standing, at least. And hopefully the store he's going to doesn't get fucking looted too.

I can't follow this thread but I am the only person I know outside of this forum who knows this combined with the Coronavirus shutdown will destroy communities where the riots hit. Most business will not rebuild in the areas, tax money is already no existent, and people with sense and the ability will get out of the area like a 21st white flight.

Protests are good but once riots destroy the subsistence and economy of communities, its a death sentence and we are going to see new trends of communities forming throughout the US adapt to the new economy and social problems this year brought.

Sydney protest wraps up

Protesters are dispersing after what was a peaceful demonstration in Sydney's CBD this evening, with no reports of violence or arrests.

Hundreds of people chanted "I can't breathe" in reference to the last words uttered by George Floyd before his death.

Organiser Keiran Stewart-Asheton, who is Aboriginal, told the rally the inherent racism towards African-Americans in the US mirrored the situation in Australia.

"Everywhere we look we see the same struggle of Indigenous people and displaced minorities being abused at the hands of law enforcement," he said.

"Unfortunately the cries from the families who have lost loved ones to police brutality or to unfair targeting by police, are seldom heard in our community.

"We are here now to have our voices heard, to say 'enough is enough' and to demand justice."

One protester said he moved to Australia from the US because of the mistreatment of African-Americans like himself.

"Shamefully, I hate to say I'm from the United States of America," he said. I'm a black man and I hate what's going on in America and what's happening to black people and what Trump is doing, the situation is just crazy."

Sometimes you gotta fake it. Simply being at arms-length reveals your position and you'll be in shit for that, too, especially in a work environment if lefties are in supervisory/management roles.
