Same here. But I’ve got to remind myself that these people are simply caught up in the mob. We’ve been caught up in it too, but on the other side.

Best thing to do is just ignore them. If they antagonize, ignore or respond calmly.
If one good thing comes with the curfew, it'll pull both sides apart long enough for everyone to calm the hell down and take stock of the situation...like how they're gonna get supplies with all the stores wrecked and what they'll do if they've gotten the virus from being outside the past week.

Sure, there's the Twitter echo chamber but neither side will be in the streets trying to murder each other.

Actually... no. Blame the democrats for this, but there is clear language amended in response to the Klu Klux Klan that allows the president to trigger this AGAINST a states wishes in order to protect against infractions of the fourteenth amendment.

They did. Rich basketball/football players celebrated when an affordable housing project was burned down, but then, when the rioters came to their neighborhoods, they didn't like it anymore. Went really quick from "fuck da po-po"to "po-po halp".

By refusing to allow the National guard and Police to perform their job, you could make a fairly firm if very new case that the governments of those states have failed to enforce standing law. Which would give the Federal government rights to invoke those amendments to standing law in the Insurrection act.

This WILL be challenged in the supreme court, and I wouldn't put bets on either side winning. But I can see the very clear legal argument for it. This only gets stronger if the governance was shown to have aided Antifa, since the fourteenth amendment also covers insurrection and aiding hostile parties.

At least 10 cops shot, 2 cops run over, and a woman and a different group of kids were both trapped in buildings set on fire by rioters. At least 4 other homicides due to riot violence.

Oh, and home-made bombs thrown at police, too.
Do you have a link to either the woman or the kids being burned alive? I just wondered if there’s actual proof over rumors.

Nigerian immigrants (a group in which Igbos i.e. "the Jews of Africa'' tend to be overrepresented) definitely do tend to be well-educated, peaceful and productive. However, this is because they are literally the cream of the crop of their home country. Look at how things actually operate in Nigeria, and you can see that the diaspora is definitely not representative of the domestic population. Shit like these riots happens constantly in West Africa, and Nigeria is no exception. They have been experiencing rampant violence, organized crime and perpetual ethnic wars between farmers and pastoralists in the northern parts of the country, oil theft and infrastructure sabotage (not to mention groups like Boko Haram) for years.
No disagreement here. That's why I didn't include Nigeria as a country in my list of states where similar riots are unlikely to happen - just specifically referring to the socio-cultural behavior of Nigerian Texans, who are undoubtedly among the upper strata of Nigerian society: as you said, the Igbos in particular and to a slightly lesser extent the Yoruba. Bit of a power level, but one of my major projects at university (studied Int. Security and Diplomacy) was on the crisis in Northern Nigeria and how such events fanned out into the rest of the country, in both ethnic and resource clashes. Granted, such things are not particularly uncommon in any developing state. I'll still stand by my assertion that you're unlikely to see rioting on the scale we've seen here in the states in countries like Botswana - which I specifically mention because it has one of the most sterling reputations of any African state, it's always been a diamond in the rough, pardon the pun. Zambia and Namibia are likewise quite stable, as are Malawi (which has more of a problem with countryside witch doctors, admittedly) and Rwanda of all places, but Rwanda is an extremely rare case of making such a drastic turnaround.

While there’s a scheduled blackout for the music industry planned for June 2, many Instagram users were unaware that the trend was also going to be applied to social media, which caused some confusion, especially when it came to using #BlackLivesMatter in the caption.

To show support amid the protests following the death of George Floyd, Instagram users were supposed to share the black boxes with the hashtag, “Blackout Tuesday,” “Black Out Day 2020” or no hashtag at all. Basically, it was important to use any caption except “Black Lives Matter,” and for a very good reason.

However, with blackout pictures and the BLM hashtag attached, useful information was substituted with a sea of black.

Black Out Tuesday Might’ve Been Confused With ‘The Show Must Be Paused’ Campaign

With users online wondering what started the blackout trend on Instagram, journalist Ivi Ani explained on Twitter, “People are posting black screens for blackout Tuesday and using the black lives matter hashtag instead of the original hashtag #TheShowMustBePaused- the initiative started by 2 Black women working in the music industry to disrupt the industry. BLM tag wasn’t initially used.”



Jamila Thomas, Senior Director of Marketing at Atlantic Records, and Brianna Agyemang, a former Atlantic Records employee, created this call to action. Thomas wrote in a statement to music industry colleagues on Instagram on Friday, “Your black executives, artists, managers, staff, colleagues are drained, traumatized, hurt, scared, and angry. I don’t want to sit on your Zoom calls talking about the Black artists who are making you so much money if you fail to address what’s happening to Black people right now.”

Since Thomas and Agyeman’s announcement, numerous major records labels have pledged to join the movement on Tuesday. Columbia records shared on Instagram, “We stand together with the Black community against all forms of racism, bigotry, and violence. Now, more than ever we must use our voices to speak up and challenge the injustices all around us.”

What’s Supposed to Happen on Blackout Tuesday?


How one chooses to observe the blackout on June 2 is open to interpretation. The organizers of “The Show Must Be Paused” suggested that the music industry does “not conduct business as usual,” and to take the time to reflect on ways to support the black community.

Interscope Records announced via Instagram that they would not be releasing any new music during the first week of June, and suggested to their followers to text “FLOYD” to 55156 to voice opinions against police violence and/or donate to the Minnesota Freedom Fund, as well as many other foundations.

As for people posting black boxes on Instagram, the goal is the same. Users online are hoping if there’s nothing but a sea of black pictures on Instagram, it will force people to take the time they spend on social media toward thinking about how they can help black people, check out Color of Change, or read up on the ACLU.
 
HOWEVER, there were pallets of bricks EVERYWHERE in the protesting areas. No one knew where they were from. Antifa also claimed to have nothing to do with it. My sources are trustworthy. The brick pallets are sincerely sketching me out. Who the fuck put them there?
tradies probably, there's probably a ton of Contractor bricklayers (Black or white) That well, lay bricks, or make bricks, or maybe even builders with some brick supply's easy to write off a shipment of bricks as stolen by the looters. etc.

The thing that gets me a lot is the widespread bailouts from somewhere. who knows. they get locked up, bailed out. kinda weird.
 
One of the craziest thing about this, to me, is that the officials who gave this cop his badge, overlooked his behavior, signed his paycheck and ultimately enabled this to happen all came out on top.
No one at all is going after the dems in city hall who are responsible for the officer and if anything, they're being rallied around.

Kids were rescued by cops, but the building was torched while they were inside. Don't know the fate of the woman. There's video a few pages back of the building being lit.
 
He probably watched The Great White Hope one too many times, or gets his ideas of peak strength/physical prowess from looking at an NFL starting lineup. Lots of Americans think like this, unfortunately, as they are not aware of how much affirmative action goes on in the sports world in order to maximize the number of starting/high-paying/public-facing positions held by blacks at the expense of whites. Nor are they aware of how hard the media industry shills for the idea of "superior black strength" or "superior black athletic prowess" in TV and film.
As an example of the first point: high school football is probably more of a meritocracy than college football tbh, and if you look at the (quantitatively) best high school players for quarterback, running back, etc, you'll see a lot more white kids than you do on NCAA D1 starting lineups.
I imagine it’s also a “what about your other prospects?” thing.

My high school had an amazing band program with a lot of talented people who could have gone to music school and become professional musicians.... but everyone went into medicine, engineering or business instead, except the one guy who didn’t have any other prospects. Given the option between the shit lottery that is pro sports versus a decent chance at a high-paying white-collar job, I feel like most people would take the boring office job.
