My whole family, myself included, are Christians. Our parents were clergy. My brother's a doctor, and despite all this he keeps joking about hoping for Trump to get COVID, despite him being in two risk groups (old, fat) like it's nothing, not even pausing to consider the ramifications of having our president's health at such risk in this time, or how his family and children would feel. He's been able to do telemedicine, but he's also been handling multiple COVID cases, so he has an intimate understanding of how bad it can get. He sent me a NYT article about two COVID cases in China where one lived and one died for pretty much no valuable reason (it communicated nothing I could use, and nothing he hadn't already told me). He was fully for the lockdowns and responded to every rationale I made for the concerns driving the Michigan protests with "so people should die?"
Trump was necessary. Even without the cultural sabotage by foreign actors, he's revealed how feral, unprincipled, and stupid we can get, and in fact have gotten. He's not a good person, by far, and it's absolutely reasonable to think he himself is stupid even if he has arguably effective strategy at times. However, the inability to think through what we have all the luxury in the world to think through, the inability to be charitable and not immediately trust our own eyes, the inability to even hope to attain nuance that isn't just a regurgitation of talking points, the willingness to wish death directly (or worse, by proxy) on someone you don't even know regardless of the moral code and mindset you supposedly hold yourself to, the inability to condemn while still empathizing, and-- worst of all-- the mad dashing to virtue signal for harmful occurrences (e.g. illegal immigration) that you'd understand are universally harmful if you thought about them for even a minute...
...we're being reduced further and further into bipedal beasts because we've chosen to compromise on our own principles to join an increasingly incoherent angry mob literally led by the nose by people who in fact realize that men can be led like feral wolf packs but somehow lamer. And now I can't tell if it was always like this under the surface, it became like this, or it wouldn't have mattered if it was under the surface because it still meant we could still maintain a functional society under those conditions.

I'd wait for solid confirmation on this, but it's not that horribly uncommon for someone suffering from serious head trauma to die suddenly after appearing to be in stable condition. Subdural hematoma has a very high false-negative rate (25% by some studies) when tested for by CT, and CT scans are one of the most common techniques used to diagnose head trauma. If I had to take a wild guess, that's likely going to be what the autopsy reveals.

the problem with that example is that in the middle east the military could see you drive 120mph on the high way and not do shit, they could see you rape a child or murder your wife or burn down a building and not do shit.
the police are thrust into these scenarios. the military wouldn't have an eric garner situation because they aren't required to stop these crimes. its a lot easier to have solid rules of engagement when the attacker always shows up to you.
