They repealed the necessity for a college degree for police due to affirmative action demands, didn't they? I'm pretty sure they demanded that the requirements by lowered so that minorities would be able to be hired by police departments.

That's going to be dependent on the individual department, but I know my local PD was already lowering or waiving the college credit requirement to join because of flagging recruitment numbers. It's a nice ideal to have college-educated officers that come straight from the neighborhoods they patrol but it's also completely unfeasible and whatever comes out of this whole mess is only going to make it even more so.

Those demands are beyond batshit.

First off, defunding and dismantling the police is NOT going to happen. Standing down in the face of criminals and riotous behavior is not happening either. Third is absolutely entitled bullshit, they already committed crimes they want to profit from by forcing the business they wrecked to let them loot with official sanction. Amnesty for people guilty of assault and in some cases murder is also off the table. And the final one about protesting how they like (loot and burn things) is also off the table, it's why they want a get out of jail free card to get away with it.

Despite their apparent desire to dismantle the police, they don't seem to like it too much when citizens take policing their communities into their own hands. Some rednecks patrolled the streets of their town yesterday (Snohomish, I think it was called?) to scare away any potential looters and these people were absolutely fuming, calling them KKK and shit like that. They just want chaos, the "demands" are the work of some Media-American handlers trying to save face as regular Americans become increasingly tired of the riots.
