Powerlevel: there was a kid in my secondary school / HS that had muscular dystrophy. He was 13 when he first showed up, and already bound to a motorized wheelchair, unable to chew, write or do anything other than talk (barely). The staff at the school treated him well, but they made it clear to everyone that he was going to die soon.I mean, can you imagine a giant newborn attending a mainstream school with his teenage peers? I mean, realistically he may not live that long... but still.
I was some few years older than him but I'd still hear and see him being rushed out of classes so they could resuscitate and ventilate him. That went on a couple years until he vanished.
At least that kid was conscious and had enough awareness and intelligence to get something out of school, if not only for the stimulation and social inclusion aspect of it. Honestly, a lot of the typical kids never really minded hanging out with the speds if they were mentally intact; when it came to autism or other conditions that made them behave like exceptionals is when it mattered, not physical ailments.
I still feel that children who are literally dying do not belong in mainstream schools. That's not even accounting for the lack of brain this spud has.
