Tell them that they taught you to respect other people's property and told you that you need to use your words when you are angry. So, now when you see everyone supporting the riots, it confuses you because you thought acting like that was bad behavior.

I fully support this. Its easy to forget there ARE actual protestors in this, people who want to see a change. I think they are somewhat misguided as they need to solve their internal issues, but that doesn't make them bad people.
Beating the fucking looters only improves the situation.

Well, what's their argument for thinking the protests are a good idea?
If they're the type to be swayed by emotion over fact, you could show them videos of people crying because of what the protests have done. Here's one whose sister was killed by a protester:

Small update on my boyfriend's store. They found the fire was started in the backstock rooms with toilet paper, bleach, charcoal and other "unknown accelerants". The store was trashed but they've been busting ass cleaning up and apparently they're already looking to reopen Friday.
Only two cities are under lockdown in San Diego county today. One's where the first riot was and the other is in Santee, which some of you may know from recent news stories of dudes going to grocery stores in klan hoods and swastika masks. Also known here as "Klantee". Protests have been moving there, as expected. But the rednecks have already armed up and have been standing watch all weekend. I heard the Hells Angels were out protecting the big stores in Santee--they have a big presence out here and I have some family members who were Angels. They're based as fuck and tbh I'd trust them with my life over anyone else right now.

That's been the story all night. Yelling "peaceful protest!" right after someone throws something at the cops. People coming up against curfew, "it's been a 100% peaceful protest today!" while we're seeing looting on other streams in the same city.
The asshole on the Portland stream saying "the cops are getting aggravated for no reason! Oops, someone just threw another bottle at them, wait why are they throwing gas at us? the cops escalated us into a riot!"
Every. Single. Stream.
The good news is we've got clips in this thread of protesters actually confronting looters now and vaguely trying to stop them. But it's still bullshit to claim they're completely innocent before they actually stop the escalations. It sounds like the mobs got the message that their optics are bad, but they haven't yet successfully policed themselves.
