The Terran Federation was a representative democracy in the book. That stupid movie gave the impression it was somehow a fascist oligarchy. Civilians in the Federation could protest, have free speech, be entitled to private property and all that jam. They just could not vote or run for public office. Only citizens could do that and to be a citizen you had to do a term of federal service (not necessarily military). It was even made a constitutional right for every civilian no matter their circumstances, to conduct federal service and that the service be tailored to their specific skills and capability. As an example, a quadriplegic certainly could not help repair roads or serve in the military, but they could help scientists study ways to treat their condition. The other right is if at anytime a civilian wants to stop their term they can also do so. Knowing there are no second chances.

In the book its depicted that most people were too content and lazy to even contemplate doing it. Voting was unimportant to them so why bother. The subtext to this being that the people who do end up voting actually care about it.
Still the government is placing a requirement in order to vote. Voting is a fundamental right. What reason would a representative have in voicing the concerns of their civilian constituents?

I know that Verhoeven never read the book, but there is something fishy about the phrase "Service guarantees citizenship".

Dude, these are students having a discussion. It ain't a crime to talk about this stuff. Will the discussion be shit? Most likely, but trying to justify the riots isn't treasonous; it's just stupid.

I take issue with it as it is sponsored by a public school system, and sent to all people attending my school at least. Definitely has premade talking points to justify this crap just from the flyer alone. Yeah it’s not treason on part of the students, they are useful idiots. Just it happens to be propaganda against the rule of law.

Reactions: General Disarray
all I learned from this BLM thing is that it's the best money making "scam" I've ever seen. Just guilt trip normies about blacks and boom! cash up your ass.
Edit: "the guilt trip business"
Also did BLM had donations in the past? If so, what did they do with it?
According to a Washington Times article,
“The BLMF provides grants, movement building resources, and technical assistance to organizations working advance the leadership and vision of young, Black, queer, feminists and immigrant leaders who are shaping and leading a national conversation about criminalization, policing and race in America.”

It’s vague. The organization doesn't tell you shit. I’ll keep digging if I can.

Edit: It seems they're a Super PAC, but they spent a measly amount. Super PAC

I'm just gonna assume, it's some money scheme to spend money in the name of the 'black community'.

The US is a long way from being South Africa 2.0. Whites are ready to fight back. And the left / Antifa / BLM don't know shit about guns or fighting back (for the most part). Hell, we have the Asians and Spanish on our side too.

It has nothing to do with "fighting back" ... nobody cares about nogs destroying nog neighborhoods. The rub is that whites are fully prepared to defend their own homes. They aren't disarmed, they will not be disarmed and they will only increase their arms after events such as this. The protests will stay in the urban sandbox because that's all that they can rely on their actors to deliver. Practically nobody, especially in this bullshit slacktivist world that we live in, is going to risk legitimate lead poisoning heading into suburban residential areas... it's literally shit that is never going to happen. They have weed to smoke and tweets to make and vidya to play... they aren't risking a 58 year old boomer letting off an entire clip of 7.62 the minute a window is shattered. Get fucking real. They loot when it's convenient and free of risk, even the most hard core "community activists" will fail to get any more commitment out of this generation of opportunists. They have precisely zero power once life and death risks are put on the table.

A white man kills a black man, but it's all women's fault? Sure, bro.
He was talking about riots and "protests", not the death of a black man. If anything, I'm not one of those people who think the 19th amendment was a mistake, I just know for a fact that 99% of female protestors are participating in this shit just for the sake of attention, not because of genuine solidarity with George Floyd.

There's plenty of blame to go around. Floyd shouldn't have done drugs. He shouldn't have tried to pay with a counterfeit bill. When the bill was rejected, he shouldn't have left the store with the cigarettes without paying for them. He shouldn't have resisted arrest and refused to get in the cop car.

The cop shouldn't have put his knee to Floyd's neck for fucking almost 9 minutes. He should have checked on Floyd, especially once he was unconscious. The other cops should have called out Chauvin and checked on Floyd.

The rioters and the looters should have had some self control and not went wild like a bunch of animals, setting back race relations at least 20 years and making a mockery of any peaceful protests just trying to get justice and change to police procedures.
Why set it back 20 years when you can set it back 100? Maybe that's what Chauvin is counting on, by acting so horribly he ensured that the chimpout would be epic.

"YOUR A RACIST!"
"Get your shit and get out then."

Funny thing is, you know that Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are furiously masturbating right now at the thought of how much money they are going to make.

Out of the 150million dollaridinos that will be 'reinvested' into the black community in LA, exactly $5 will probably actually go to the community. The rest will be eaten up by SJW "Diversity Experts" and Dangerhair "Black Female Studies" boards.

Gonna be funny.

We'll see just how true the old "If we really didn't like you, we'd just remove all police, emergency services, and other things you bitch about from your community and leave you on your own." saying is.

It is from civilians that Citizens come. If you abuse civilians, it galvanizes them to become citizens and move against you.

Additionally, the idea of Service drills into the person that they do this for mankind, not just themselves. It is made incredibly hard to weed out those who lack the moral and personal fortitude to continue.

Voting is NOT a fundamental right actually. Your fundamental rights are you have the right to your own opinions, the right to your own property, the right to your own life, and the right to pursue your own interests so long as those interests dont harm anyone else.

You dont have a fundamental right to vote in elections. In fact even the US does not recognize this right now. Convicted felons cannot vote but they otherwise have their fundamental rights.

yes but the riots will only continue if he's found not guilty.
If he gets convicted lot of people will only be emboldened cuz it'll show them that rioting and looting work, and over 200k people agree.

If he isn't convicted of 2nd degree murder (which he might not be, because you could argue he's an idiot who didn't realize that would kill him, especially with the first autopsy saying he didn't die of asphyxiation, which is why upping this from 3rd degree murder was a mistake) then there will be even more riots.
