The thing is, Nick had an outlet for talking about these issues in a way that was tailored to kids and had appropriate context. It was called Nick News and actually dealt with some real shit. Paying for and producing an actual broadcast news magazine for kids and teenagers is a lot harder than just sticking a wall of text in the middle of Spongebob reruns though, so they canned it in 2015.
