RWBY - The Hindenburg on which Rooster Teeth rests its hopes, dreams and future

Salem (maybe eventually Cinder) have been written more sympathetic angles to their villainy.
Salem's angle was written because she's the show's designated villain and the show screwed up with Ozpin so bad that an argument could be made that he was the villain and RT needed to snuff out that line of thinking (despite Salem's backstory said to be one of the first things written for RWBY, the execution seemed like a patchwork), while Cinder went from final boss in waiting to having a Darth Vader/Palpatine relationship with Salem and having a character that just seems to be just around because she's gotta have a showdown with Ruby...a Looney Tunes antagonist without the comedy. Either way, those two ain't gonna be redeemed.

I get you, I meant that at least they were given a lot more depth to their characters compared to Adams "LOL Stalk Blake Slay Animals" Taurus

People have been shitting on him once he left

I see what you mean: https://www.reddit.com/r/RWBY/comments/gv7ays/joel_heyman_professor_oobleck_is_no_longer_with/
What a bunch of shitheads.

he would also block anyone who didn't agree with him or anyone who would confront him about his behavior on Twitter

Why do I get the feeling you could easily apply that to the majority of Rooster Teeth's staff? But I guess it's only bad when Joel does it.

I hope I'm just jaded to fuck and you're in the right, because back when Cinder got fucked up by Rooby's magical eyes (that still sounds retarded) they kept making her out to be an abused puppy by Team Bad Guys, and that just seems like the crap Dumb and Dumber would say was them foreshadowing it.

Salem will be harder to justify, but they did just suddenly turn Ironwood into "right-wing psycho" strawman because he had common sense, so Ozpin might as well be the Big Bad all along if the fandom screech hard enough.

Honesty to most, RvB has been running on fumes and needing to be put out to pasture for a long time now. Hell, the way RWBY blew up was a sign that it needed to bow out.
I foresee RT crumbling in the coming years as their IPs fail to bring in anywhere near enough money to survive on. Just looking at the metrics for their channels, they're pulling in great numbers... for small indie YTers, not a large company employing 100+ people. (Oh god, their RT animation channel is pulling in nothing unless it's RWBY related and even then the numbers are still bad for a large company). Numbers MAY be better on their actual site, but that's impossible to tell because those metrics are just flat out not given.

Then factor in the several blunders they suffered recently (excluding the thicc lasagna stuff as that hasn't been fully settled and won't fully impact them until it does imo). It's not a good sign when you have to increase the price of your monthly subscriptions, but aren't providing subscribers with anything extra.

This business model is not sustainable, and unless they can create some new IP to sell well, layoffs are going to continue.

Just. So sad. I loved RvB from the beginning though to Season 10, and even liked the Chorus Trilogy. Seems obvious in hindsight that it should have ended there.

Did people really not know that Joel was based and red-pilled? Seemed pretty obvious to me considering the few times he was ALLOWED to talk in the last few years (emphasis on allowed for a reason) and him always have the "right" opinions years ago when he was far more public within the company. It was clear he was cut off and left to work on his own due to his opinions as the company became more radicalized.

Joel left apparently because he had a pretty different opinion from the rest of the RT crew. People have been shitting on him once he left and he... has been dropping a lotta spicy pills about the Riot/Protest/Corona-chan Mass Gathering.
I remember hearing that Joel voted for Trump, which may have been the final straw between RT and him. Well, all the best to him and his future endeavors.

Not really connected to RWBY but speaking of people who have left RT. Mica decided to share why she left. Basically saying that Roosterteeth didn't white knight her hard enough.

Her dad chimed in as well

Bunch of employees groveling at her feet in the replies.

Didn't she make some absolutely retarded statement on one of their podcasts that she was afraid to be a bisexual black woman in fucking Austin of all places? And people criticised her for that, or am I mistaken?
Edit: Real nice of you to throw Achievement Hunter under the bus, Miles, you little bitch.

If you're interested, someone on Reddit posted how Gray had RT go all in on Gen Lock, other shows be damned. https://www.reddit.com/r/HobbyDrama..._how_one_directors_drive_to_make_his_passion/

"Other shows such as X-Ray and Vav, Sex Swing "

What the hell were these shows, specifically what the hell was Sex Swing.

I assume at least some of you here enjoyed RWBY at some point - can someone explain to me what exactly the appeal was?

I sat through the first 3 seasons and was thoroughly unimpressed. I could not get past the art style, the characters/dialogue were incredibly cringey, and the story was kind of generic. I’m usually able to get past shortcomings in a few of these areas if at least one of them is REALLY good, but honestly there wasn’t a single aspect of RWBY that I felt was anything beyond mediocre.

What did people see in this series? Was it just the cute anime grills

The fight scenes were pretty cool, music fit well, character design was cool, I honestly liked it more for what it represented as fagity as that sounds. For once a popular youtube channel used their popularity to make something besides a podcast or a lets play. They took their clout, their money and their skill and started to make their own original content. While the first seasons weren't amazing they were decent and you could see them improve and kind of hope they could eventually become their own animation studio. It's kind of the same reason people liked bravest warriors, even though by all metrics it sucked, you excepted the flaws because the show was getting better and you could see a future where they mastered their animation.
