Particularly Mr. Braden of Urbandale Middle School. Ask them how often they deal with racial problems in their schools and what is done. Mr. Braden specifically told me he dealt with it at Ankeny before coming to Urbandale. When my daughter was found crying in the bathroom and taken into the counselors office about her being called racial slurs due to her hair, it was suggested to her to pull her hair back in a pony tail to feel more confortable. The children were never made to apologize to her, they were spoken to privately, and it was never made public. I have been asked questions about why I am with a black man frequently, even by my own family members. I get treated different when I am with my husband and when I am not. My daughters get called racial slurs by people they play sports against other schools, particularly suburban and rural schools. You don't have to believe me, you can continue living your privileged life and never care, and things will remain the same for you, and probably get worse for my daughters. At least you will live happily knowing you can effectively ignore it and it won't exist to you. Congratulations. Thank you for taking the time to step into my shoes and care about my children. It means a lot.

So far, I really can’t make a lot of sense of this white privilege thing. Maybe I’ll have a come to Jesus moment as I look into it more.

But black people are walking white ppl through privilege checking tutorial style like they are a labor coach when they by definition would have no experience of it, saying things like “the shame and self-hate is good, that means it’s working!!”, making cutesy graphic animated videos that hinge their point by cookie cutting all white people into a single life history, and that harmless, meek as fuck white people are kneeling and apologizing for it on command when they have nothing to do with systematic racism and had no say in that “privilege” in the first place. Here it is being touted as some sort of superpower. Is it a good thing or a bad thing? Should check it and get rid of it or hold onto it and use it for good? I don’t get it.
