Just re-watching Demolition Man. I can only assume the 'end game' of this shit show is a neutered police force akin to the 2030s SAPD where they are too scared to handle a violent person. As someone who played that game, they missed the whole point.

The Phantom Thieves came into existence because there were powertripping assholes who were abusing their power to cover up crimes and were forcing everyone to accept their evil as normal. They were never anti-authority, and in fact were supportive of those who were honest civil servants, they just had no way to deal with the evil people in positions of power without the Metaverse.

They game even threw shade at the assholes who abuse social media, as the villains catch on to the temptation to whore for attention on social media from the Phantom Thieves and purposely goaded them to steal the heart of someone they killed off not long after to make their efforts backfire.

The finale of the game is not won by being a vigilante, the TRUE ENDING has Joker turn himself in and work WITHIN THE LEGAL SYSTEM to achieve actual justice. No Metaverse was needed for that, true justice was achieved when all the supernatural cloak and dagger crap was done away with and people actually allowed the organs of the state to work as they were intended to function in good faith.

And that means Joker willing surrenders himself to punishment in juvenile detention until his record is cleared by letting the justice system work as it was intended, which hinged on him accepting his lawful punishment and not complaining about it.

Even assuming there's literally no terrestrial military opposition, there's no nation or coalition of nations hostile to us that are even close to having the capability of a sustaining a large strike force much less an occupation force. Even with China and Russia your talking about maybe 4 light infantry battalions between them with amphibious capabilities.

And that's assuming there's no naval or air power to confront them well before they would ever get ashore. Or any ally with the naval power to defend us. Or subs that can take out continents.

thats pretty smart, the police are all stations on the exact opposite side of the city. those cops are as good as dead. the nypd. also just checked during the late 70s/early 80s (the worst years in nyc) the police force was about 28000, right now its at 1991 levels with 36000.
