One thing I don't understand is why people want self policing communities thinking that it is a brave and stunning new idea thats never been tried before. All I can think is "bitch have you ever been to a reservation?" Holy fuck the reservations I experienced were near dystopian hell scapes of drugs, kiddie rape, robbery, free gibs and murder.
Stuff like test drive a car from the dealership right onto the res and woops that is never coming back and the rez cops aren't going to do shit about it. Whats that skippy? You have a 11 year old daughter that hasn't been broken in yet, best let her uncles get first turns on her. You got your check from the government? prepare to have ever single person in your extended-extended family tree show up and ask for 20 dollars for cigs and food because its just a loan to a family member and you can't say no to the tribe. Whats that? You want to leave the rez to go to college and make something of yourself? You are now disowned and kicked out from the family for being a traitor who didn't want to keep living there.
The rez cops don't do shit if a non-indian was traveling through and got robbed/murdered. The reports would go right into a shredder and there is no recourse. There was this one car that broke down on the road through town and within 8 hours it was stripped clean of everything that could be stolen, vandalized and finally set on fire and no one did anything about it. I'm fairly certain the burnt husk is still there years later.
