Do you guys seriously think the US would bow down to these morons and actually abolish/cripple the police?
This is why I FUCKING hate these movements, they always take a minor problem (in comparison, police need to be accountable if they fuck up), and turn it into something far bigger than it needs to be with VERY negative consequences if unchallenged.

This will make the US very unsafe and the left would have destroyed the country if this happens.

This is extremely dangerous. One moment can make the difference in saving someone's life in an emergency situation.
Uhhhhhh, EMS and FD would have more than a couple words about that. The number of times where we were told "overdose or man down unknown cause" turned into a cluster fuck shitshow with a side of fistfight and biting is a non zero amount.

Edit: I have been covered in human brains on more than one occasion. It is really fucking important to have cops on scene.

So which cities are gearing up to become new Detroits at this point?
Buffalo is definitely screwed. Minneapolis seems screwed as well. Any others? The thread moves so fast it's hard to keep up.

They're going to cripple the police in a few cities but it probably won't be countrywide.

I'm sure they would put language into the bill exempting any brown people from paying. How they would actually enforce who pays and who doesn't would be a completely different matter though.

Lmao imagine you're a widow and parent to dead union soldiers raising grandkids in obscure poverty, only to be told you owe black slaves decendants more money than you've ever seen in your life.

Chicago is a food desert already.

Even before this exploded, our culture was ill along those lines. We've largely forgotten how to love others, and how to love ourselves. We have malformed and ungrounded ideals regarding love, caricaturizing it as a flurry of passion without a persistent appreciation and duty. We've been more actively encouraged to use people-- for sexual release (e.g. in casual sex), the easing of our neuroses (e.g. in suddenly caring about police brutality in black communities without being concerned about any of their other rampant issues), or whatever else. The cards were already stacked against you, and perhaps you yourself were a product of that cultural illness to whatever extent. So, regarding your inquiry, nothing much has changed except that the more dire victims of our culture now have an additional flag to raise so that you know to avoid them.

You're completely right and this ties into my angst; since all around me is artificiality I've adapted likewise, from my honest self and distancing myself from my integrity to just saying what people want to hear. I drunkely kiss women I have no desire to be in a relationship with, hit on women I wouldn't date for the fun of it and to talk them into sending me nude pics, etc, I guess I got damaged after being treated like the above myself and realizing there's really nothing more. I even hooked up with a chick on tinder. I always just wanted to be in a relationship and stuff but that's not really what the world is anymore.

The riots, and seeing how many people support them, just remind me how distant I am from millennials (talkin' about my g-g-generation). have convinced me to live the medium-sized city I inhabit. I'm going to follow family to the boonies in another state where it's beautiful. I suppose I could live in a city where there are no "people" or I could live in an area more abundant in nature where there's less people, and now I am pretty firmly convinced my decision to leave is the right one.

Even if I harbor no hatred to black people, many of them do harbor hatred to me, or the political ideology the left has turned "being black" into is also manifesting as mainstream. We're seeing a new socialist movement with widespread support among youth. I suppose if things ever get better in a future generation I'll be a lonely old man on a park bench trying to get youth to understand that social sanity is a tenuous thing and to trust no one no matter how many people adhere to some consensus.

They're protesting prisons now.

- Amazon supports Black Lives Matter
- Amazon treats its employees like utter shit, busts unions and abuses those that work under them with terrible conditions and pay

Idk, you guys. I think Amazon has singlehandedly defeated racism with this stunning and brave move.

Fuck those blacks that work for us, though.

according to leftists 10 unarmed black people dying to police in 2019, with only 2 being unjustified, is a huge problem. literal genocide

It's only the First responders, I believe there's still active officers there. Honestly, just like every other poorly thought out 'protest', the only thing that's going to happen now is that they are probably going to throw beat officers to go deal with situations they're not trained for.

The union said that they would no longer pay the legal fees for police officers who fuck up during protests. Do you honestly think a beat cop is going to put themselves at that kind of risk? They're not going to be able to get ANYONE to do it.

fire up the Buffalo stream..... what do they do in this situation? Get police from elsewhere? Hire private security? I've never heard of this happening.

The whole police dept didn't quit. The officers in tactical response just stopped doing that. They're still cops even.

Detroit heavily involved completely dead industry and a gradual flight of the folks that used to work at those industries. I don't think many of these cities are going to see that same kind of decline -- but it's more than likely going to be a re-run of the '80s more general city declines as everyone that can get the fuck out gets out.

I almost personally wonder if it might not be different this time around, though. Before, we saw massive flight to the suburbs - that'll probably happen. But I feel like you'll also have some people stick to the cities... just in very very tight, cramped neighborhoods that retain their general QoL while everything around them begins to decay under the magnanimous leadership of the funky flunkies.

I'm curious to know, too. Some may say Richmond, but Richmond has always had ups and downs, a lot of crime, and large swaths of real estate taken up by incredibly dangerous projects like Gilpin Court and Creighton Court as well as many iffy neighborhoods overall; I don't know if anything currently happening will really shift anything there to make it that much worse.
