Black Lives Matter organizers are painting “Defund the Police” in yellow paint on 16th Street right now

Watching a march go by in Brooklyn. Not exaggerating when I say it looks to be 90 or 95% white

The North was perfectly fine with slavery so long as the fruits of it were feeding the North’s industrial factories at bargain basement prices. The trigger for the South’s actions was the North made moves to prevent the South from selling their raw materials such as Cotton directly to Europe, and instead forced them to sell to Northern factories for less so the North could then sell Europe manufactured goods. It was an economic war. Most wars are at the end of the day. The institution of slavery in the South had largely been dying off for economic reasons, until the Industrial Revolution and the invention of Ely Whitney’s famous Cotton Gin, which allowed for the processing of cotton at Industrial Levels, which suddenly turned Cotton into a cash crop and spiked the demand for Cotton growing. Thus reinvigorating the demand for agricultural slaves.

I’m not condoning slavery. Merely pointing out that the issues of slavery and the issues surrounding the US Civil War were far more complex and intertwined than you are commonly spoon fed by the media. The root cause was ultimately Energy. In the 18th Century the primary source of energy for the society was straight up manpower. And sadly slavery was the sheapest source of such energy. By the mid 19th Century the North with its heavy industrial factories had largely evolved to coal and steam as the primary energy source fueling their economy. But due to it’s largely agrarian economy the South was still locked into Manpower as the only viable energy source. And forcefully yanking out that energy source with no viable replacement would crater the a Southern economy for a century or more. Which is what in fact happened to the south after the civil war. It’s only in the last 2-3 decades that the Southern economy has begun to equal or surpass the North’s.
I would say maybe certain business sectors in the North were okay with the South, but the tons of abolitionists groups and efforts in Congress certainly didn't like it at all. It was John Brown's raid that terrified the South, and he was a religious nutty abolitionist. And his truth is maaarching ooonnnn.

So, in one of the discord that I'm in, one girl said this about the riots-

"Hey @ everyone! Today as it was storming (and as it still is where I live), I was overcome with emotion at the state of the world. Both in agony and in celebration of the beauty that comes out of the darkness. I've had lots of people come and cry to me about how they feel helpless. That they can no longer live happily and in peace knowing that the world is not right. As well as seen some people say that the world is not getting worse, but that the veil that sheltered them from reality is lifting. A close friend of mine recently told me while in tears: "I used to say all lives matter. But I can't say it anymore. I can't say it anymore because all lives won't matter until black lives matter." And she isn't the only who has been in tears as they have been forced to see the injustices of the world.

To them, learning this has been agonizing. It has stripped them of their joy. They feel hopeless. The world is too big and there is nothing that they can do. But the truth is that it would truly only be hopeless if we remained blissfully ignorant. It can be terrifying. But change is coming. And a better tomorrow will come from it.

And now, I don't like calling people who are terrified for their lives ignorant or sheltered, because that's extremely fucking tone deaf, in my opinion. Nor do I like the fact that there's morons out here who think anything remotely good has come from this. I've also been stewing with anger over all of the terrible shit that these rioters and looters are getting away with because people are too scared to tell them no.

So I responded.

I mean, I can certifiably say the world is getting worse when you see shit like a 77 year old black man who spent forty years actively trying to improve his community bleeding out on the pavement for defending a store against looters. Shot dead over a fucking television.

And a kid in Ireland being stabbed in the spine repeatedly for the crime of having white skin as his friend desperately tries to shield his body with her own, while multiple people film and laugh at their agony as the kid lays there dying. The cameraman literally yanks the friend away from the kid's body by her hair so he can get a better angle of the kid's battered and bloody face.

And videos of people sobbing as their livelihood goes up in flames, or an elderly disabled black woman weeping and saying she doesn't want to live anymore because people have literally destroyed every single place she was able to go to to get necessities.

And a puppy being tortured on live television and people doing nothing.

And then this sort of bullshit behavior is not only approved of but encouraged by seemingly every corporation and celebrity and social media site.

So yeah, I'm gonna say that the world is getting worse. I'm not crying because I've lost ignorance, because I lost that a long ass time ago. I'm crying because I'm seeing the world I love dissolve into brutal, mindless anarchy and people are cheering it on.

I'm probably gonna get a bunch of people in the discord on my ass, but hey, worth it.

In the US blacks can blame all of their bad behavior on waycism and the legacy of slavery and all that, but how do they justify it in fucking Ireland of all places? The Irish had no part in the slave trade, they were slaves themselves and oppressed in their own land.

Why immigrate to a white country if all whitey does is oppress you, anyways? Go to fucking Nigeria or one of the other African countries with somewhat modern living standards. No white racism there!

I still don't get the fucking point here; what exactly is going to be accomplished by defunding the police? It's like they saw one fucker saying it and now everyone is repeating it like a short-sighted, shitty Yak Bak.
So you can literally buy slaves at the auction block, like in Libya.

Sometimes it's worth it to get that shit off your chest. I'm sure a lot more people than you would realise agree with you.

Businesses will immediately leave, crime will skyrocket, and pain and suffering will spread across the land.

Duh.

It allows the mob to dictate what the government does. If there’s no police then the strongest rules

Dumbasses think if theres no police then oppression goes poof and they start living their wakanda dreams or something.

Yeah, uh

All of those were violated continuously by the Confederate States as at in no time of the existence of the rebel bastards were they ever at peace, and the Atlantic slave trade was literally still a thing until Brasil abolished it in the 1880s - Confederate exiles literally took their slaves with them when they left, and there was definitely still Atlantic and Brasilian slave importation going on INTO the Confederacy

They felt they had rights to decide what happened within their own borders. As you can see now in the USA, none of us have this right no matter what we want. We are now slaves to the will of the feds as seen in the drinking age having been changed to 21 and other incidents.

Obviously they would not have had the ability to have strict control over their borders during a time of war. Never heard of them abandoning the South en masse to get to a slave friendly country. Slavery is a horrible practice, but when a nation is told they need to give it up and become economically destitute with no plan to develop in other ways being put forth. It is very easy to see why most Southerners wanted to rebel.
