Having said that, there's a reason for that "go up to the manager and give him a firm handshake and demand a job" meme, because society has set up some absurd expectations, his parents being teachers they probably assumed it was easy as shit to get a job or write a thesis or whatever. How close was he to finishing, in reality, like credits wise was he on track to finish in 2013? or would it have been longer?

The Thesis is the hardest part of any non-STEM degree, and thats usually the breakdown point for so many people, having something to say, and finding the research and forming an essay with very little handholding is one of the hardest part of the whole thing especially for a teenager. At some point you end up hitting that imposter syndrome.

He had a 3.8 I believe and simply had to turn in a thesis. That's it. Just finish and hand in his thesis, which he could've tanked, and still had fine grades. He eventually did finish after they pressured him into it and offered to buy him a (used) car, and he immediately moved hours away to a city. He was 23 when he finished, not a teenager, and he doesn't deserve any pity.

She started her career on the burn unit at a major non Cleveland Clinic hospital in the 80s and transitioned to nursing homes when I was in preschool. Late 90s the business department kept butting in more and putting money first and micromanaging etc. The next decade just completely burned her out and turned her against the healthcare industry.

I couldn't last after doing medical care in a 3rd world country for a couple years. Coming back to self-centered assholes faking issues for drugs, always threatening you, calling you all kinds of stuff, groping, spitting, hitting, it was too much. At least when you're in a shithole people know you're keeping them from dying, they respect you and they don't abuse you. Americans are insanely entitled and it's insane how detached they are from the amount of effort they make you exert, not to mention the cost of care for shit they should get under control. They only take drugs, they'll never actually sleep/eat/drink water or exercise, nothing that takes effort. No wonder they're all obese and depressed.

I had a similar buddy in HS, he was the son of fairly wealthy doctors who were community names for pretty big accomplishments. They told him at 16 they'd buy him a porsche boxter used if he got at least C+'s in the dumbass classes they had him in. Couldn't even be bothered to do that. At least when they kicked him out he straightened up. IIRC he's a tech doing AC or something.

I live between Muslims and Catholics my whole life and saw the bad and good from both and I'm still non-religious.
I'm just pointing how hypocritical western fedoras can be when it comes to their agenda, it's way too easy to criticize Christians that every point made is already known in the mainstream, pedo priests are only attributed to catholics yet don't think that other religions also have them.

SSRIs are super-useful to the people that need them, but I agree they can be over-prescribed in the US (especially when everyone and their inbred-brother has a "mental illness".) Like "Sure Lyndsay, your habit of coloring in the lines is exactly the same 'OCD' as the girl whose hands are bleeding from washing her hands 50x a day."
