You guys realize that someone could go to a protest with like a small ziplock bag full of powdered Fentanyl, throw the contents up into the air, and kill dozens? 2 mg is a fatal dose and people would probably inhale that much in a matter of seconds. The more I think about it, the more I'm really surprised it hasn't happened yet. Maybe not at these protests but somewhere. The attacker could just use narcan and good skin and breathing protection to basically get away scott free, and anyone coming to try and help would likely overdose as well. At a certain point we're going to have to acknowledge Twitter (and social media in general) is a drug that can rewire brains, similar to heroin and nicotine.

Even as far back as the mid-1990s, experts debated the idea of online/computer addiction. I think there's merit because society has become so digitially interconnected that it's difficult at best to remain technology free on any sort of long-term basis. Add in social media users who make posts solely for the dopemine rush that comes with likes and other asspats, and that only furthers the addiction idea.

I think this is about to go out with a whimper. Looking around twitter, the reactions from most people are lukewarm at best and the numbers just aren't turning out to retweet, comment, or like anymore.

I've seen people claiming the protests have been a success. Funny how they hype the so-called successes/victories and casually memory-hole the negatives such as black-owned businesses being damaged -- some to the point they may never reopen.

This is what law makers do when they are allowed to be reelected back into office with no competition.

And this is what happens when people vote people in solely on popularity, name recognition, or skin color. Although one of the lawsuits alleging Michigan dropped the ball with education in the city of Detroit was recently settled out of court, another had been dismissed with the judge strongly suggesting that people dissatisfied with the education their kids received should have taken the matter up with the school board (before the state takeover) and voted out those not acting in the students' best interest. But it's easier to complain about racism and prejudice than it is to encourage kids to do well in school and vote for school board members that value a proper education.

I said it before, but it bears repeating; the amount of money that's circulating here is ridiculous, and no one can specify where it's going and how it's actually being used.

$300 million is enough money that it might be able to be used to make a difference. However, how much of a difference will it make when Black people that do want an education and try to better themselves are labeled Uncle Toms or sell-outs. All the former slaves who founded the historically Black colleges and universities have to be turning in their graves that the current generation isn't taking advantage of the education their ancestors were legally prohibited from having at one point in US history.

Some of those jobs are black jobs. Black jobs matter.

First of all the organizer is not Japanese, she's a "Japanese"-American larp'ing as a Japanese. According to local news it was around 600-1000 people who made the march in Osaka and about roughly 500 in Tokyo.
It's quite easy to explain why there are only a handful of blacks in the pictures, it's because there are not much of them in Japan to begin with (not counting the members of the US Armed forces). It is really possible that there are more African-American members of the US Forces in Japan right now than black people living there with a visa.
Most likely the few on the picture are all the blacks who live in Osaka, wouldn't even wonder me tbh.
