>Walmart and other retailers state they would not reopen all stores in Chicago and they are assessing the situation. I would assume that the least affected stores will open while the ones that were heavily destroyed get canned.

This is what QuikTrip said after the looters burned down the one in ferguson. They never rebuilt it.

In the U.S., funding causes a lot of bias. My brother works in a field which has applications for national defense and in the medical field. The chances of a U.S. citizen dying of a terrorist attack are much lower than the chances of them dying from the medical issue. But guess where the funding goes?

There's also a 'publish or perish' mentality with academics. In the U.S., if you aren't pumping out sensational, new research, you risk losing tenure and acclaim. Plus nobody likes pushing out papers talking about how they definitively proved their hypothesis was really, really wrong. It's viewed as a failure, even though that contributes more to the body of human knowledge than screwing around with your p values until you find some shred of statistical significance.

Finally most of our science reporters are idiots. Plenty of scientists will provide a summary of their report which kind of implies one result or another, and the media will run with it. Only the very few who read and understand the whole study realize folks were lead down the garden path.

I think we can agree that, at least in the case of Russian, the communists didn't help. Especially in the Gulags.

Sorry for the highly exceptional response.

Don't worry your response hasn't bern exceptional at all.

I did hear about the publish or perish thing in the past. I hate it. See, here that's a thing only in the private. 'Cause in the public, state employees are REALLY fucking hard to fire here in spain. Like you have to prove they fucked up beyond belief or just straight up werem't even trying to do their job. That causes some issues, but it has some advantages. Like the fact that our professors don't have to be afraid of that shit. And don't have to be afraid of getting canceled. Fuck I once met a guy that was accused of PEDOFILIA, and he's still teaching. For the record he was proven innocent. But in USA good luck keeping your job after that. I hate how the USA treats scientists.

As for the commies. You'd be surprised how little impact the gulags had on farming. They had overpopulation and a fairly large unemployment rate, they could've thrown a lot more people in without really running out of farmers. Issue was Lysenko, a scientist Stalin trusted, decided to disprove natural sellection. Because yes, you haven't misread, the commies were actually creationists... fucking looneys. Anyway so, stalin and lysenko wanted to prove that natural competition is a lie by capitalist propagandists, evolution therefore must be evil, evil politics. As of course GLORIOUS COMMUNIST COOPERATION is the best way to do things, always, at all levels. For that Lysenko proposed a sweeping reform to farming methods, which he claimed would enhance russian farms and disprove evolution in favor of his brand of pseudoscience, nowadays dubbed lysenkoism. Farmers and scientists all over russia tried warning the commies it was actually a really bad idea and would cause famine because these changes were absolutely fucking retarded as they assumed, amongst other things, that not only would the plants not compete for nutrients, but deliberately overcrowding plantations would cause them to need less nutrients to survive due to what can only be described as communist word salad. Stalin sent those farmers and scientists to the gulag and implemented the sweeping reforms. The results speak for themselves.

"We demand an end to the school-to-prison pipeline and the abolition of youth jails. Get kids out of prison, get cops out of schools. We also demand that the new youth prison being built in Seattle currently be repurposed."
Rational people should know exactly what they mean by this.
Re-education camps to stick all those fascists in?

Here's the list of demands. That is some impressive wall of autism there.

"We demand a retrial of all People in Color currently serving a prison sentence for violent crime, by a jury of their peers in their community."

How many years would that take? Gazillion?

"We demand the abolition of imprisonment, generally speaking, but especially the abolition of both youth prisons and privately-owned, for-profit prisons."

Lmao.

"We demand in replacement of the current criminal justice system the creation of restorative/transformative accountability programs as a replacement for imprisonment."

And there it is, restorative justice! You know, where you just have a heart-to-heart chat with your rapist or family member's murderer and everything is all better.

Is BLM actually bad or is it just their supporters. I didn't see any super horrendous things on it's website.
Look at everything done in their name and you tell me.

Just a bit of a side point beyond some of the FUN stuff we are finding out about the Larper occupation is ultimately end in the most lulzy of results, had a bit of a strange occurrence come to me. Going back just in time to the days of the financial crisis in 2008, seeing the trends of the BFFT machine over the last several weeks really has had my noggin jogging. Considering the data of the virus coming out now, seeing that we are actually way below of the expected kill range, we are actually lower than my projections of 0.6%, seeing that in most places it might be a 0.1%-0.3%, along with seeing that the ANTIFA siege of America just popping up as soon as this data comes out.

Trends we where seeing in the markets back in previous years, especially in regards of the QE never quite easing up in the FED, with all of those interest rate fluxations. As well, seeing that the US stock market back in December actually had the worst preforming month since the Great Depression. Considering that information, this may explain a bit of how we may be heading into negative yield territory with all of this "stimulus," being pumped through out the global economy. Could it be that the entire China Virus was indeed one of those false flag type of moments? Seeing now the commie larpers rise like bugmen out of their respective dorms to be unleashed on the unsuspecting masses, this is just to distract everyone from something reflecting a currency crisis? I mean if this is reflects Yuri's model of Communist subversion, the crisis stage has been achieved FULL FORCE.

I am very apprehensive when the WHO is double talking the pandemic now, along with this false optimism for the economy. I mean, how can we conveniently forget that over the course of the last 2 months, we have seen the largest increase in artificial stimuli in recorded history. Something is telling me that in the banking world, there was some sort of buckling that wasn't seen, but we've already felt. Strange considering that before the pandemic where I am located, the service industry was already doing horrible, and a lot of the stagnation in the economy began in the Fall... When the virus emerged... Which they are saying now was probably back in October... Along with the insanity that was going on in the summer with the Epstein stuff, the custard last stand moment is in full force for the Deep State.

Was talking to a guy whose sprouted right wing talking points in the past and claims to want to join the FBI. When I was talking about these protests and how clearly fucked up the protestors are, he got mad at me in a passive aggressive way and said "Sort out your own country" (I live in the UK), but when I told him that America basically started much of this bullshit in the first place (I mean it really did I mean in the UK we didn't have issues with Black/White relations until they started importing identity politics from the USA) he blocked me.

Anyone who denies that America is a festing cesspool of shit is a fucking retard. The UK is definitely fucked up, but it is a cancer that spread from fucking America.
Ehh. It is not that simple. Really since the early 20th century the Anglo Elite in both the UK and the US started collaborating in the same sort of fashion the French and German States do in order to support the EU. Unfortunately most of them became champaign socialists or neoliberals as time went on, so they are perfectly fine with throwing everyone under the bus as long as the "state" continues.

Granted, yes. My opinion of the entire anglosphere, including the US, continues to fall every year.

Users of TV Tropes have applauded at least one action that these rioters have done, namely the tearing down of the Columbus statue:

"Good, I despise Christopher Columbus. I have been honestly wondering if the protesters could get rid of the stupid holiday commemorating him. He isn't worth getting an holiday."

"Columbus is in the bad place. That's a one-two-three punch though isn't it? Bad law gets trashed, mayor gets pressured, shitty statue gets dunked. Hell yeah."

"Should say something that the guy ran Hispaniola so bad they arrested him and sent him back to Spain for trial."

"How many cities close to lakes with statues of famous slave-traders even are there, anyway?
[lol]

Either way, good job, Richmond protesters."

" Italian-Americans better start for a new role model to build a statue of and hold a holiday over."

"Yes, there should be plenty of cities close to lakes with statues of famous slave-traders, as long as the lake is larger than a pond, whatever that is."

What if the vast majority of people and corporations tweeting out #BlackLivesMatter know almost nothing about the BLM organisation, and are simply agreeing with the entirely vanilla take that black lives do in fact matter and that Chauvin man bad? It sure seems more likely than half the country suddenly declaring their support for a radical socialist anti-white organisation, in full knowledge of what they've just bought into. If this is true BLM, through its name, has pulled the biggest political bait-and-switch in American history, enabled by ill-informed people having such a low opinion of society at large that they probably take the BLM slogan at face value and legitimately believe there's a bunch of Moon Man clones out there hunting coons for sport and that's what's causing these police shootings.

Because unless you're a political junkie or spend your free time looking up culture war bullshit on the internet/laughing at lolcows how are you supposed to know that this is a massive scam and that there's a cottage industry dedicated to making mountains out of molehills for every far-left hot-button issue?

Oh I wouldn't be shocked by this at all.

One thing I've noticed over the years, online and otherwise, is that there are certain kinds of sob stories and other narratives that most people will just take at face value, no matter how ridiculous or full of holes it actually is. And anybody who is immediately suspicious or questioning of these stories tends to get painted as some kind of monster. (See also: Just about any internet hoax that preyed on people's sympathy.)

"Cops are racist and go out of their way to abuse black people" is one of those stories, and since BLM has associated themselves with the sympathetic party, the vast majority of people are going to verbally support them rather than questioning their motives. I guarantee a lot of people supporting BLM aren't thinking anything beyond "racism is bad and these guys are against racism".
