Hi, I'm the individual who commissioned the Madoka review. I'm just here to let you know that Mr. Enter did refund me after saying he couldn't do the Madoka review.

Though after doing so, he immediately blocked me from DA, YouTube, and Patreon. Even canceled my Patreon subscription.

I have a feeling he didn't refund me because he couldn't do the review, but rather because he wanted to block me.

I had asked him the day before he refunded if it would be alright for me to offer a rebuttal to a claim in his "Homer Badguy" review. He said I had oversimplified his claim, and I apologized for that, but explained my argument would be something that should apply to 99% of cases. Literally the day after he says he can't do it, returns the money, then blocks me.

I ended up refunding the money on PayPal, because I don't really need it. I've always been okay giving money to creators with the possibility that I may never get anything in return. And honestly, being refunded under false pretense just made me unable to look at that money as anything bit a $300 slap to the face.

Probably should have donated it or something, but my stupid pride just made that money sting. Anyway, I can offer proof of this stuff if you want. I'm just sharing it so you know the truth behind the Madoka situation.

Okay, so that explains why he's been radio silent about the whole thing. He can't just announce the Madoka review is cancelled, because any possible excuse he could come up with will be too incriminating.

1) "The review was too hard to make!" Oh, and you think a $350K cartoon will be easier?
2) "The subject matter was too dark and deep!" You've discussed deeper and darker subject matter and you know it, coward.
3) "Reviewing 12 episodes in one video is too ambitious!" Oh, and reviewing Book One of Korra wasn't?

And the most honest reason...
4) "The guy who commissioned the review is literal cancer for having an opinion I don't like!" Alright. If it's that easy to get on your bad side, guess we're never supporting you again.

I actually brought up point 3 once with him after he mentioned having a lot of issues with the review. Because I felt bad, and wanted to explain why I thought he'd be good to do it. He responded by saying Korra was his most taxing and time consuming review. I did look back at his tweets, and it seems true that it did have one of the longest production times of any of his videos. Not as long as Madoka of course.

Anyway, I was fine with him taking however long he needed. Hell, if it was too hard, I was fine with him refunding the money if he really felt he couldn't do it. But it just feels like he refunded me under false pretenses for point 4 as you mentioned.

Someone brought it up on his DA.

Considering his slate as I recall was Terra, Strange Magic, and Mulan 2, I wouldn't be surprised if he picked the former, as it's the shortest and likely simplest.

Where did you get this from?

And I will say people bringing up creepy pedo or violent undertones isn't that much of an absurdity anymore, with the fetish content that keeps cropping up and the electric-squirt-gun weapons and prison camps. I'm still not gonna say Enter is a pedo, as I'm still pretty sure he's the kind of sped that doesn't realize his kink is a kink, but it's understandable where the idea comes from.

Seems they're not interested in finding an editor again after the experience with the novel. If you look further back in the thread, I posted some of the correspondence Enter had with the book's "editor". The editor's messages to him were riddled with basic grammatical and spelling errors and heaped with vague praise. I'm very doubtful of the "professional industry proofreader/editor" claim made in those messages. I am sure that what he used was an online service where you basically pay someone who barely speaks English to tell you what you want to hear. Going with a more legitimate service would be a good idea, but knowing how Enter responds to differing opinions I doubt it will happen.

Got it from a leak discord. I cut out the name of the person answering questions but I'll say they are someone rather close to Enter. Would you mind directing me to those editor comments? I'd like to read them for myself. And yeah, somewhere out there Enter mentioned what site he used to hire an editor and it looks pretty sketchy. Personally I'm quite interested in those "biggest names" in the indie animation community they consulted for the kickstarter. Also wondering just how much everyone is getting paid since I get the feeling most people working on GA are happy to just be working close to their idol Enter.

"Your writing is particular strong" Should be "particularly."
"You do a good job of getting in protagonists emotions and imagination" Should be "of getting into" and "protagonist's" with an apostrophe.
"Up to you to remove any word, sentence or paragraph that are not contributing to keeping the story moving forward". Should be "that is not contributing."

Oh dear god... Is reviewing cartoons really so lucrative to waste your money on stuff like this?

Madoka was turned into two movies. He could have just watched those and made it a two parter. God damn is he a lazy “critic”

This seems like a one on one conversation, did you burn your source to get this? If you did you’re an idiot

When you get back, let us know what set him off over the Simpson’s review.

I asked him if he still believed that being falsely accused of rape is worse than being raped, because I had an argument against it. He said that was an oversimplification. I asked him to clarify. He gave that response. Then I said I had a rebuttal that should be applicable to 99.9% of all rape cases.

I never stated it, because I didn't want to engage unless he felt comfortable talking about it.

But if you're curious, it's that people ignore that rape victims are also scrutinized by the media and socially ostracised by many. So that in addition to being raped means they face all the same potential consequences as well as being raped and the PTSD from it.

The other thing about people like Enter is they think they'll just pitch their brilliant idea to a network and get put completely in creative control because they're obviously a genius. Cartoons change so much from their initial pitch and pilot. Ideas get changed, characters get refined etc. People who think they're just gonna waltz into the industry with no clout, no experience, and no contacts like some genius auteur who networks are going fall all over themselves to hire are in for a painful reality check.

Speaking of which, I always wondered why they’re like that. Why are people like Mr. Enter a bunch of pretentious assholes?

I’ve seen these wannabe content creators on social media platforms like DeviantArt, YouTube and Fanfiction.Net. They’re always complaining, saying stupid shit like;

“This sucks, I can do better than that”

“Me and friends will make Sonic the Hedgehog great again. You’re all fucking morons.”

“I’m a OG Mario fan, so I know better”

And when they’re not doing that, they’re posting ideas for movies/games/cartoons/etc, on their profiles pages hoping someone will notice and make them famous. Never in my life have I seen such, entitlement, naivety or self-importance.

Seriously, why are these people like this?

Pretty much. In this case, it would be a mix of a couple things. First would be the common conception that people with Asperger’s are “little professors”, and the wrong parenting with this mindset can give Aspies a great sense of self-entitlement. There’s also how autistics hate what aren’t according to their expectations. With little to no knowledge on how to work with other people, they would try to fix it themselves so it goes according to their expectations. See also Cynthia of Wogglebug fame, who also has a thread on this site. She’s been wasting more than 10 years and her family’s money to make Wogglebug, a hated character from the World of Oz, into a household name but still hasn‘t succeeded.

Usually, it's because social media attention gave them a swelled head. Writing a review or fanfic that appeals to a few dozen or a few hundred people is easy compared to producing a film, TV show or video game that's required to attract millions just to stay afloat. None of these assholes seem to realize how large the jump from "writer" to "producer" really is, or how much their creative vision will need to be compromised just to make the product even possible. As long as they continue to hide in their little online bubble where nothing but words can challenge them, their arrogance will only get stronger.

It think it’s mostly a misunderstanding of what writing actually is. It’s very easy to see or read something you don’t like and say it’s bad. Some people are even capable or articulating what about it they find bad, but they often think that because they “know” what is bad, they know how to write what is good.
Plenty of bad movies are made well. Good acting, good cinematography, good effects, good script, it can all be there, but there’s something just off about the production. Misplaced priorities, message that falls flat, it’s boring, these are all things they can effect a story that was written well. It happens all the time.
similarly, you can badly made movies that are good. I’m gonna get a lot of hate for this, but the original Star Wars is a perfect example. Cheesy special effects that were out of place for the genre at the time(explosion sounds in space don’t make sense in pre-SW scifi) a plot that’s bare, the lack of an actual story, flat characters, goofy costumes. By all means this should be a bad movie, but it comes together with a lot of genuine heart, they worked with the low budget and embraced the soap opera, and gave it a killer soundtrack. The amount of love and competence made what is ultimately a bad movie an extremely enjoyable experience.
The problem comes from these “critic” types thinking that good means enjoyable, despite that being more subjective, which is why you get people making the “perfect” show or movie and why they always turn out horrible
