I wonder how organized gangs like the Mafia are reacting to this.
I wasn't in any mafia, but I can give you some hints on my past experience. I've made similar comments on a breadtuber's (Vaush) comments on crime and the riots in a different thread. But basically, if I was to simplify it anymore it would be this.
There are smart people in crime and there are dumb people in crime. The smart people in crime are in it for the money, the dumb people in crime are in it for any other reason besides that, and they'll stay at the bottom of gangs and any organized crime ring as lower untrusted levels of distribution and expendable measures of security. They'll have to fend for themselves and that's why they do stupid shit with their homies and get busted, because they aren't trusted to be part of any real money making oppurtunities. Ultimately the smarter guys are on top and they recognize that their success is dependent on harmony with their communities to take advantage of certain needs, especially drug addiction. They're not just looking for corrupt cops, they want some honest ones as well to jack the price up on black market goods and help keep at least some of the more violent thugs out of their way. But too many honest cops sniffing around is bad for business. I should also say that I've never met a prospering capo behave erratically. It was all business. The ones that fall to their addiction themselves are soon left behind. It's not like the movies like breaking bad or whatever. Violence brings attention, so everyone has to be careful on how they choose to handle a situation.
So if you're talking about the riots, they'll be fucking pissed. Harming the community is harming their cash cows. It's disrupting the flow of business and I imagine that they've been weighing up their options to get involved including the timing of their actions because the rioters have essentially brought the cops to their doorstep if they operate there, and the cops will arrest any criminal that gets sniffed out. The reason they're so pissed is because it's dangerous to just move into another territory if yours is destroyed and if the community suffers in a way that prevents them from buying more of what you're selling. It's a rock and a hard place. If they diversified and moved towards property etc. They'll also be pissed for similar reasons. You're looking at a moment in criminal history where the needs of organised crime are well matched by the needs of law-abiding citizens and the government.
However, seeing politicians in blue cities behave the way they have been, it might be better to say that the needs and wants of organised crime and most law-abiding citizens are well matched, and not the government.
If you think I'm power-leveling I'll point you to this:
And just say that crime is very business oriented for the people that aren't retarded faggots. It ended up being pretty boring some days.
