One thing I've learned about liars whilst following DSP is this: it's doesn't matter how good you are at lying, as long as you're complete shameless.

It's been shown time and time again how Phil sucks at lying. He can't bluff for shit and he always does the same overreacting act whenever he's trying to pretend not to know something.

But that doesn't matter, because he's completely and utterly shameless. He gives no shit how obvious it is that it's him. He will keep pretending even though everyone around him is pointing and laughing. And just that is enough to make people wonder "Hm, maybe, just maybe, it really isn't him.". Not because he's given any reason to actually disprove it, but only because of his sheer lack of scruples.

Truly fascinating. To me, at least.
Phil's bad at lying, but what he's good* at is being emotionally manipulative. He plays on people's sympathy, backs into a corner to make himself appear smaller than normal, puts words into people's mouths to make them appear more antagonistic. Uses repetitive words/phrases to make you feel the proper mood. Constantly exaggerates how bad some things really are, makes the most simplistic of things sound like an ordeal. Bad things he does are downplayed and cast aside, left to ball up in the corner. Even during gameplay he pretends to be an overworked, confused old man.
It's effective at making most not want to bother with criticizing him ("He's a tiny streamer, who cares if he's an asshole?") but it makes his career permanently stagnant.
*Good in the context that he's manipulating actual autists

If Scopely is doing this shit for Phil there's no way he's only whaling $50k.

$50k is a solid whale, dont get me wrong. Thats a "hug" client that is worth special flags to only get the 'good' customer support ("if the client asks for a hug, you god damn hug them").

A hug client usually isnt the BIGGEST account, but the most consistent, so its possible that Phil is simply a very consistent source of income. But for a game racking in millions as gacha does he's literally a drop in an endless ocean.

Unless he's spending a LOT more a LOT more often. Often enough he's worth fuckery to keep around.

Its likely besides the 50k in rolls he's spent an equal amount in consumables.
If I understood correctly when this was explained early on in the thread, the $40k number was a minimum based on how much spending is required to reach the level cap. There's no upper limit on how much was spent, it just has to be at least that much because the account is at the level cap.

That's correct. He has to have spent 40-50k total to reach the VIP level. Which he's been at for awhile now while still pulling big.

I'm not sure if VIP covers ALL spending? Or just buying pulls/etc? Either way Scopely aint going out of there way for one decent sized fish in a sea full of them.

Unless he got a 'harassment' exception because him jerking off is spammed on their twitter.

Look at that. He has done two helps already. Maybe Darksy has finally learned the value of helping others.

Who the fuck am I kidding? He is just doing this to gain early favor that he can exploit later.

From a programming perspective, how much effort would it take to make a special executive decision and exception for this one user in making their name. I imagine companies like this also have a word filter so people can't make usernames like "xKikeKillerx" but couldnt one employee higher up just change the code for one of his buddies as a goof and have one user with that name? I'm just asking, as I'm ignorant on this kind of subject.
Probably not much. Character limits in modern databases aren't really a thing anymore. This isn't some server-side limitation that had to be coded-around. This character limit is almost certainly imposed for aesthetic reasons in the app itself (i.e. so the name doesn't get cropped when displayed in the leaderboards and such).

This could have just been a really dumb CS rep using a workstation client that doesn't have the 15 character limit and just did what Phil asked. But no doubt Phil's spending enough to get some special treatment, and Scopely wants to keep this whale spending.

This might be my favorite arc for him yet. What a toxic, miserable creature. I wonder how many hours per day he spends on this shit. This guy is not just a paypig, he's basically in Scopely's thrall and he spends the entire time fuming with rage and flitting from guild to guild like a plague rat. I wonder if he hates his "job" or his free time more...

Maybe he'll kill himself when the despair becomes too much to take.
