I think they’re letting Boomer America red pill themselves. I think they’re really putting a spotlight on what modern leftist dogma actually truly consists of and what the eventual end game is. Yes I do get your point. You think because America's gun owners haven't used their guns against the government, that they must be unwilling to do so. While I say the America's gun owners haven't used their guns against the government because the vast majority don't think the government has done enough (or maybe even anything) justifying its violent overthrow yet. You might think the US government has done enough, larpers in plate carriers that you see on the internet might think so - even I might think so - but typical gun owners don't think the government has become enough (if at all) of a tyrannical entity that it needs to be shot at.

Your argument is lack of use -> implies lack of will -> implies guns are useless. I'm arguing lack of use -> implies lack of actions by the government justifying use (by the vast majority of gun owners) .

I would say that you're wrong then. As a check on the government guns are useless right now. You cannot point to a single time when the threat of the gun carrying public has ever stopped the government from doing shit since like the 1700's. I don't think it will ever 'get bad enough' where owning guns will be a significant factor in anyone's action against the government. That the whole 'America is salvageable because gunz' thing that was being peddled earlier is simply a massive cope. It's the 'Yeah, you better walk away!' but the government doesn't walk away, they just ignore you and walk over you regardless. Saying 'Oh well they haven't done enough' doesn't change that. Do you think you live in a healthy, good society? Or a fair and just society? Or a non corrupt society? Do you think that your vote matters? That the democratic system is working for you? The only time you'd ever be able to use your dammed guns would be when the whole country is baying for blood, any other time and your neighbor would sell your arse down the river.

The American system has numerous checks and balances on power. Like as much as I'm here going 'REEEEE AMERIFATS GO AWAY' like a seething Europeon they still have it better than the UK. To add on to this:

My mom is a sports enthusiast. My dad was never much of a sports guy (besides baseball) but she loves all of it. She's not a stats person but she knows the great athletes, their strategies, how they won their games, that kind of thing. She's the one who taught me everything I know about sports and sportsmanship. (Again, my dad's not a sports person. He's the quieter half of the pair.) My earliest memories with my mom are about watching ball games on tv while she tried to explain everything that was happening.

Anyway, she was mega into boxing back when boxing was a thing. She never liked Muhammed Ali because he was a draft dodger and she thinks he was a traitor to America to his dying breath. However she still respects him for what a remarkable athlete he was.

We were chatting about political stuff and she told me that she thinks this is all the rope-a-dope. Of course a rope-a-dope is when you encourage your opponent into tiring themselves out throwing punches. If you can absorb the punches then you can come back at your opposite with your own brutal offensive and they'll be too exhausted to defend themselves. She told me not to worry about things and said the best was yet to come.

My friends, I love my mom and she's a very intelligent lady. I can look at all of this and believe that Donald Trump, another sports enthusiast, is smart enough and strong enough to pull off the rope-a-dope.

To answer your question, I think there are other ways to stop a tyrannical government, but the guns make it easier to protect yourself while doing it legally/peacefully. The government tacitly endorsed farm murders of South Africa are going to be a lot harder here. I also don't think the US has seen a government tyrannical enough for any right-thinking person to be willing to kill over it.

Think I finally wrapped my head around what's really going on.

Trump threatened Deep State interests. The Deep State pushed the doomsday button and told the masses to kill all white men.

Before you say I'm an idiot, think about it: George Floyd had more than a lethal limit of Fentanyl in his body. The man was dying before the cop's knee touched him. And Keith Ellison has been upgrading the charges. There's a non-zero chance the officer walks, which puts the country in a bad place.

There's a reason we don't get to see the bodycam footage. Maybe it shows Floyd injesting something, or the officer shoving it down his mouth. Or something, I don't know what. But I can think of a lot of other times a cop shoots someone and the family demands to see the tapes immediately. They get leaked online. That didn't happen this time and it's odd.

When we talk about the Deep State, there's a group of actors who are actually in positions to carry out operations that are not in the interests of America. Here's a chart detailing the people who went after Trump. Think of them as the Vanguard, the people who actually do stuff.

The next chart is of the media relations of the Council on Foreign Affairs. This group is kind of the propaganda arm of the United States. For decades, they've set the dominant media narratives for most of what we see and hear. Before Trump, McCain, Clinton, Obama, and both Bushes were both members. Some of the people at the top have changed, but they still mostly all have ties to CFR.

And they have all been bought off by the CCP with bribes and the promise of access to a gigantic market.

So the CFR realized they don't have any pull with the White House and their influence is legitimately being challenged. All these tariffs have been hurting their buddies in China and another 4 years of this was really going to screw up the new world order. So they decided it was time to change the narrative. They got George Floyd to overdose, probably promising him he'd be the new MLK. They got the cop to sit on him in front of a camera for 8 minutes for no good reason, America's cities burned along with it's international reputation, and now we have Anarchists destroying any vestige of the State because it's all about power. They're going for broke and hoping we don't do anything about it.

I think home defence is made massively easier if you have a gun, but the weird farm murders that are going on SA aren't that. They seem to pretty much come out of nowhere and involve gang attacks in the middle of the night; unless you wake up before they even get in the house you're probably fucked when a gang of armed men break in intending to kill you. No different to if some guy wants to stab you and you don't know he does.

I do also agree that the the government isn't really bad enough to be worth going full civil war over.

I talked her down as best I could. She knows, she was just pissed. My area is mostly (like 99 percent) white, and she actually got handcuffed because the sheriff's department warned a zero tolerance on any violence at all. (they wrote her up for littering and let her go with a 25 dollar fine)
