UK General Election 2019, Brexit, and all things Britbong politics - No loicense required to post here!

Agreement is finally in Number 10's grasp.

The text that's taken months of officials' blood, sweat and tears has been agreed, at least at a technical level.

Now a paper's being drafted to present to the Cabinet tomorrow ready for the government's hoped-for next step - political approval from Theresa May's team, even though many of them have deep reservations.

Remember in the last 24 hours some of them have been warning privately that what's on the table is just not acceptable, and will never get through Parliament. Some even believe the prime minister ought to walk away.

But the government machine is now cranking into action. With a text ready, their long-planned rollout can begin.
The BBC's chief political correspondent Vicki Young said some ministers had "deep concerns" about the shape of the likely agreement, which critics say could leave the UK trapped in a customs agreement with the EU.

She said they would have to decide whether they could support it, and if not, whether to resign from cabinet.

Leading Brexiteers have already condemned the draft agreement, Boris Johnson saying it would see the UK remain in the customs union and "large parts" of the single market.

He told the BBC it was "utterly unacceptable to anyone who believes in democracy". "Am I going to vote against it. The answer is yes," he added.

And Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said "given the shambolic nature of the negotiations, this is unlikely to be the good deal for the country".

'Failure to deliver'
Both the UK and EU want to schedule a special summit of European leaders at the end of November to sign off the reportedly 500 page withdrawal deal and the much shorter outline declaration of their future relationship.

Brussels has insisted it would only agree to put the wheels in motion for the summit if agreement can be reached on the issue of the Irish border.

Ambassadors from the remaining 27 EU states will meet in Brussels on Wednesday.

If a deal is agreed with the EU, Mrs May then needs to persuade her party - and the rest of Parliament - to support it in a key Commons vote.

Conservative Brexiteer Jacob Rees-Mogg said if details of the text reported by Irish broadcaster RTE were true, the UK would become a "vassal state" with Northern Ireland "being ruled from Dublin".

Such an agreement "failed to deliver on Brexit" and the cabinet should reject it, he told the BBC.

"I think what we know of this deal is deeply unsatisfactory," he said. "There seems to be growing opposition to these very poor proposals."

Meanwhile, following pressure from all sides of the Commons, ministers have agreed to provide MPs with a legal assessment of the implications for the UK of the Irish backstop and other controversial aspects of any deal.

Cabinet Office minister David Lidington said Attorney General Geoffrey Cox would make a statement to MPs and take questions ahead of the final vote on any Brexit deal.

MPs, he said, would get to see "a full reasoned position statement laying out the government's both political and also legal position on the proposed withdrawal agreement".

The Democratic Unionists' Westminster leader Nigel Dodds said he was pleased Parliament had "asserted its will" as it was imperative that all parties to the deal were clear in what way and for how long it would "legally bind" the UK.

Chequers minus it is. Whatever happened to no deal being better than a bad deal.

We should have been far more aggressive in negotiations with Brussels. They all but stated immediately after the referendum that they were going to bumrape us for having the temerity to leave, so we should have told them that unless and until they got serious, we'd basically go full on tax haven mode and steal all their big companies - and funnel money and support to Eurosceptics in Italy, Spain, Greece, Poland, and Hungary.

I welcome all this, already somewhat red pilled some of my family members about this liberal white guilt bullshit and they a way bigger threat to the future of our community than some redneck kkk nazi living in the swamps of Mississippi.

This is why your main argument against anything being, "You don't have a right to speak on this" doesn't work very well. The moment the person on the other side is also a member of the oppressed group, you don't have a leg to stand on, so in this case, you end up doing some bizarre dance of yelling about how the voices of POC need to be heard while also suppressing the voices of POC.

You don't get to speak unless you are a POC and you agree with us 100%

Irony - that's even worse than plain ol' racism in that they have a double-bonus-multiplier of who can and can't speak.

Yes, the vile creature got away with it scot-free, and has the audacity to lecture other people on what is good and righteous. View attachment 1370479
Labour doesn't like to when minorities vote Tory (or Libdem for that matter), they are meant to vote as a monolithic bloc, not have their own interests and opinions.
The Only thing Shah deserves is the rope, nevermind a seat in parliament.

Edit: I recall that quite a number of Labour MP's and affiliated council members covered up for the grooming scandal (or profited from it) hand-in-hand with the police, in numerous towns and cities, yet none have gotten in trouble for it.
Absolutely disgraceful.
Same with the Democrats and Blacks voting republican. All the racist name calling comes out. Uncle Tom, coon, Uncle Ruckus, token black boy (that one done to the current Tory London mayoral candidate Shaun Bailey by Dent-Coad, who lost her seat in the last snap). It's the old communist groupthink. Everyone needs to be in lockstep, anyone who isn't is free game for racist attacks.

It's what made me swear off ever considering the Labour party, being referred to as a "slant eyed bastard who doesn't appreciate what the party will do for him if they get elected" by a student on my university campus years ago. Made me go from being one of the apathetic to "well, fuck you and your party then, I'm joining the other side".

Edit: Whenever these grooming scandals get exposed, first thing to do is look up the composition of the local council. 9/10 times it will be a majority Labour council, and has been for years. I am certain that Rotherham was the tip of the iceberg with coverups. They got caught and had the central government send people over to take over the role of the council because it was so bad. If you were raped and you went to the police, they would tell you that you consented and would threaten to arrest you for wasting their time. In their minds, the victims were underclass whores who loved getting Pakistani dick, not even worth looking at, let alone investigating. Then you had other Muslim council members directing police and other sexual assault help centres to steer away from Muslim cases.

Rotherham? Mostly Labour. Rochdale likewise.

Oxford is mostly Lib Dem / Green but they're all suitably woke. Speaking of which. There used to be a Green party councillor in Oxford who lived in a tree. As in, her postal address was, the 6th tree from the left, Acacia Avenue, Oxford, OX1 etc. etc. She always stank, according to someone I know who worked for the Council at the time. All the same, none of them would dare do anything to upend their precious "community cohesion."

God the Lib Dem’s and greens are a absolute cancer upon the voting system. I have never seen those waterbrains make a good point and yet they somehow get votes.

I'm definitely too young for this, but David Owen and David Steel seemed fairly rational. Granted, the Lib Dems of today loom nothing like the Liberal party of the 80s, but I can see people still seeing the LibDems as a more rational labour purely out of habit.

That pisshead Charles Kennedy was fairly level headed too.

They are useful for splitting the Labour vote when the labour party goes too far left or decides to be on the fence about the flavour of the month issue.

They took a nosedive since the time of Kennedy and Clegg's first election. They used to actually be a party the 2 main parties had to deal with. Now they are just there to syphon votes. No one outside Scotland gives a shit about their replacements, the SNP and their unending idle threats about leaving the UK to go and hook up with the EU (good luck with that, I don't think they could even qualify, unless the EU decides to bend rules, which they always do).

To prove there’s fucking morons on both sides of this issue, a bunch of right-wingers, including Britain First, made their way to London hoping to counterprotest a BLM demonstration. You may say this was a noble goal, but the trouble was, BLM had apparently got wind this was going to happen and delayed their own protest, so when these guys showed up, there was nothing for them to do.

They then started fighting with the police, who’d been specifically deployed to protect monuments that might have been vandalised. Also, a man who’s suspected to be one of them took a piss next to a memorial for PC Keith Palmer, who was killed during the Westminster Bridge Attack.

But the cherry on top of all this is that people who were formerly shitting on the police are now cheering them on. This almost makes me think this may have been a brilliant piece of 25D underwater backgammon, but I really don’t know. This fucking timeline man :story:

You can always trust the football hooligan crowd (because that's exactly who Britain First and EDL are made up of) to start a scrap, piss on things and smash shit up. There is a reason why Orcs/Orks from Warhammer are based on them.

Sadiq Khan decided to board up the Westminister statues because he was worried about the hooligans destroying it. The man picks the best way to make himself look like an arsehole.

To the surprise of absolutely no-one, the upper-middle class uni students that make up the vast majority of ACAB protests in the UK are the people that champion and demand police intervention when it's against someone they don't like. It's like how most of them champion diversity and socialism, but live in an area that's 95% white and has a six-figure median household income.

Notice how they actually had arrests this time but did fuck all last weekend also.

Newsthump have written a pretty funny article mocking the push to remove or tarnish “problematic” figures from the public consciousness. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen the Isaac Newton joke a few times before, but considering Newsthump and the Daily Mash both came down with serious Brexit Derangement Syndrome, it was nice to see some levity from them about this.

WTF, I thought he would entertain an alliance with the Nazis and let them fuck up the statues so he can use the excuse "I didn't do it".

Newsthump are fucking killing it at the moment:

So after running ongoing Cummings coverage as their headline for 3 days straight the guardian seemingly got the message yesterday and dropped it to cover some niche stories such as, I don't know, riots across America or plans to reopen shops and end the furlough scheme which we've been waiting months for.

Luckily now they're back to the important stuff:

Top of the front page. I had to refresh twice I was so certain it must be from days ago but no, they're really still at it.

I don't mind a bit of gossip but it's really not the time. This isn't fucking Watergate, it's piss-weak point scoring.

Honestly, the fact that the best his enemies have on him is that he went to drop off his young child somewhere safe when he suspected he and his partner had Covid-19 is damn well a recommendation for the guy.

What he should do now is show up at a BLM protest. I want to see the Guardian writers' heads explode when they're trying to condemn him whilst saying it doesn't matter at the same time.

There is a bit of that to it.

Consider it. We know that the Police's number one priority above all else is to avoid a race riot; as a result of Brixton riots and Enoch Powell's now proven to be correct prophecy.

The government has been very carefully stepping around this. Any major commentary on the unrest has been made exclusively through two people; Sunak and Patel...Brown people.

When the protests started the public was largely indifferent to the protestors, but when they began to damage monuments opinions started to turn. A particular highpoint was when the soldiers who were attempting to clean that monument for the war dead and were being harassed by the woke bitch; do you think soldiers just randomly decide to give up their days off to walk into a drama zone? They were clearly sent in to do that and to be filmed being harassed doing it.

This is a very English answer to unrest; in France we tend to either ignore it or send the gendarmes in to slap them silly which tends to just make the protestors more angry. The Police are just letting the woke left do whatever they want....and letting people on the street film it. There's videos on Facebook I've seen today of people having their throats slit in broad daylight shared openly that normally the British police would pay them a wrongthink visit for posting. They haven't.

If anything, it seems like the far right protestors are getting in the way and that's why they're being removed or shooed on as quickly as possible. The British government doesn't seem to want to stop the woke left; they want people to see what the woke left does when unchallenged to turn the tide of opinion to be used in the government's favour with what comes next. This is a Tory government, they know as well as everyone else that it's not BLM or woke leftists who vote blue; who they don't need to worry about pissing off and who they need to stir up to support them.

Remember the 2011 riots when the Police didn't do a fat lot? Following that the Government quietly passed several pieces of quite draconian retributive legislation allowing for in some cases sentencing 3 or 4 times higher than what would normally be allowed for those particular offences to be doled out in express service courtrooms.

This is a strategy we know Peel was articulating back in the days of his initial Dublin constabulary; many, many successive UK governments have done the same thing.
