Websites like these is what lets me speak freely, but I personally am afraid that the future will ban websites like these, and we reach a point where the government will track you down and flag you for speaking your mind.

Personal anecdotes of working in IT; nothing is ran properly. People love to espouse shit like least privilege access and making sure security controls are in place; but in reality, they rarely are, especially the bigger an organization gets. Because eventually, someone is going to want (and somehow get) a special privilege, and someone hears about that and the bullshit expands until you have people who don't rate shit, being able to access shit they have no right to access. Other side is, whoever administers their AD doesn't want to do shit properly, so they just assign whatever to whoever, or give special access to their "Users" group, which by the way, anyone with a login is in that group.

Short answer: people are fucking lazy, especially IT people.

And companies are too cheap to pay to properly maintain and make sure mission critical systems are robust. For instance one time during peak volume, our systems crashed because some database purge task never occurred and whoever was supposed to monitor it to make sure it occurred was off fucking a cow or something. So the tech tried to write a query to clear out the database and instead deleted EVERY SINGLE ORDER both outgoing and incoming for a very large region of the country. Tens of thousands of orders gone due to cascading incompetence. Never underestimate stupidity.

Sorry to hear about that but I'm glad that some stuck around. I went off the grid long ago regarding social media and attempting to keep up with old friends. I worry to think about how so many nice people I grew up with are doing now. I can't bring myself to long them up and I want to remember them how they were.

Its honestly a nightmare when you see how once kind people turn out to be when time passes by. Ive seen people that are perfectly fine turn into total monsters who are beyond recognition. It makes you want to pour bleach on your memory.
