@Null This place has been my comfy internet weirdo hideout for six years now, and I definitely see what you mean about the change. I just wonder if this is the exact same kind of dilemma other people who have left the site years before have faced, where they don't find themselves aligning with the culture of the forum anymore as it changes over time. There's not much else I can say that hasn't been said. For all that this website was and is, it's been an unbelievable ride, and it couldn't have been that way without you. I read every post in this thread and I've been on this site for a few months, so I have a good feel of this place.
Free Speech
The idea of free speech is that anyone can speak their mind without being silenced or persecuted. But in practice free speech will ALWAYS be dissident speech, always be blasphemy, hate speech. The culture is the de facto law, the rules that people follow including taboos. People that follow the culture don't need free speech because they naturally censor wrongthink, ideas that destroy their culture (e.g. racism, sexism, bigotry, etc.). So free speech is a social construct that was created in 1789 and now that it's being put to the test, e.g. Sargon's UKIP campaign, people are rejecting free speech, "well free speech doesn't mean their aren't consequences for your words." The idea that you can say whatever you want without punishment goes against human nature, destroys the culture, so people reject free speech. If you want speech, you MUST justify that speech.
The big mistake conservatives and center-left liberals made was believing free speech, allowing the liberals to use free speech to push degeneracy into society. Many of our problems today could have been prevented if free speech did not exist. Since free speech could be used to undermine the liberal narrative, we can see liberals turning against free speech, banning hate speech. They understand that free speech is unnatural and that it'll be used to destroy your culture. Free speech is a lie. It has never existed because people are willing to self-censor and it will never exist in practice.
Lolcows
I missed the lolcow phenomenon, but I think I understand the craze. Lolcows occurred in the 2010s as social media evolved into a video format. Lolcows took the 2000s internet forum culture (i did it for the lulz, trollface) and applied to non-anons. The problem is that this is really childish behavior, high school drama and as people grow up, they don't want that type of toxicity in their life and they want to spend their time on important tasks like politics. The millennials that mocked the lolcows 8 years ago are now 8 years older and into politics. Same reason why FaceBook and Twitter are now political sites and even Reddit is very political. I agree that era is over.
Fun
The future of this website is obvious: growing the happenings section. Since right-wing/conservative viewpoints are not allowed on most websites, that means this website will become right-wing: conservative, white nationalist, anti degeneracy (feminism, transgenderism, homosexual), MRA & MGTOW, anti vegan, etc. The culture will change, this website will become a moderate stormfront or daily stormer, and you'll be the new Andrew Anglin (although I guess you're already treated the same). If you're passionate about these issues, if you want to make a difference, make the world a better place then that passion will fuel you. You won't have the same fun as you did when you were 20, and that's a good thing, but you will find your time and effort rewarding. This is the 2020s. The 2010s or 2000s are never coming back. You can either view that as a bad thing "omg times are soo much worse now" or a good thing "we can get politically active and start winning the culture war." I prefer the latter viewpoint.

As one of the more infamous edgy pissbabbies around here, this thread came at a time when I'm actually starting to consider my place in all this. It was blatantly obvious I was an edgelord trying to antagonize others for attention, shitty trolling plans everyone else did before but I'd totally do it RIGHT this time you guys, etc. I'm relating to the content of OP in a slightly different light, as one of those idiots who kept trying to be a lolcow but mercifully got pushed aside from that time and time again.
I said terrible shit in the name of getting attention. It's nothing new to me or anyone who knew me within those groups. I wasted so much time doing the same shit as other lolcows, trying to provoke and prove the world hates autists as much as I think, when I really could just be doing my own thing and letting would-be A-Logs and weens hate me. Also they are including facilitation of illegal acts as a way to lose protection, which would mean every comment might have to be verified and checked to ensure facilitation does not happen.
