That sounds reasonable to me. No jury can convict on those definitions of murder. Jury selection will be fun thoigh.
I suppose there will be an argument that the technique is taught and approved and so to what extent was he following SOP? Personally I do think that he was wrong - it’s not so much excessive force (cops need to be able to put a man down and keep him down) it’s prolonged force used when an arrest is in obvious distress. I think the trial will be interesting. If he’s using an approved technique then it comes down to individual judgement on when to stop and that’s a grey area. FWIW I think he deserves to face a culpable/negligence charge, but this is far more complicated than just cops kills man.

The UC System is heavily subsidized by rich kids from China and India these days though the chinese virus put a dent in that. And they also try tuition hikes time to time. It will be interesting to see if enrollment numbers fall but it is like a very big to fail type of system. Unless they close a campus or student loan system is reformed, they will still be around.
