I mean, I'm a center-lefty (or I guess I was), but I still care about persuasive arguments and cases and shit like that. I'm sympathetic to the idea that the cops retain some historical racism against black people, but the way you make that case - or you make progress to that end - is not to chimp out, is not to throw a hissyfit anytime someone doesn't immediately agree, is not to suggest that everything white just ain't right.

Really, I'm fairly dismayed that the coming capital-business-jobs flight from cities is going to fall hardest on the people that all this is supposed to be helping, while the rich handmaidens quickly scurry off to their suburban backups and ritzy gentrified lofts to pretend they had nothing to do with it. But you can't make these cases from the left to the left - you get the same if not more pushback that the right gets when they veer close towards some of these topics. I would often debate with people I knew, arguing always from a results-based perspective: "Okay, sure, and that may be true - but what good is screaming that at the heavens if you wind up losing support and never addressing it?"

It's a heretical concept, and it's endlessly exhausting. I don't terribly care for Trump, but my take on it was always "Just vote him out in 4 years and make a better case." And, well, I felt that I could craft a better case without much difficulty - but the constant WE'VE GOT HIM THIS TIME! nonsense and looking to fucking st bernard and joey "arbiter of blackness" biden have ensured that I'm primed and ready to just sit this shit out.

Seriously, like. First it was "DRUMPF IS A RUSSIAN ASSET!!!!" and then "MUELLER IS GONNA KILL DRUMPF!!!!!!" and then it was "TRUMP GETTING IMPEACHED IS THE NAIL IN THE COFFIN!" There exist people like myself that pushed back on this retardation and called it utterly counterproductive from day one, with clear predictions that all came true because it's really not very hard to read this shit. These people Do. Not. Listen. And above all else, they never admit wrongness. They're completely absorbed in their own vision and view of the world, and usually nurture extreme resentment at people what strive to get a more complete view of things. I wonder if it's because the idea of debating has changed? In the past, it was about convincing/persuading the other party to see your side, either through facts or logic.
Now it's more of a berating, browbeating kind of thing.
You can see this in the presidential debates (specifically the dem primary ones, as I watched those), where there isn't any time for actual facts or evidence, all they do is spout platitudes and good-feeling words to sound "right".

Its because the public does not want facts. Our media and schooling has pushed opinion and emotion over factual information. Listen to the final codec call from MGS2, its the most relevant piece of media we have for our current belief of "truth". Facts are often hurtful, they destroy our ego and because of it, we want to ignore them to be correct, to feel validated. The left are the ones who promote the social sciences, and the most important thing we actually learned from them is the fundamental human flaw: "we judge actions as character traits instead of situational problems", yet, they ignore their own ideology here. Was a cop a bad guy or was he in a tough situation were there was not many options and adrenaline pumping? Are we bad, evil people for wanting to stop all these "humane programs" like immigration, rioters, and sryian refugees, or are we in a situation where helping them is hurting us a lot more? How many times do you see an event like George Floyd or the trump impeachment and see people bring up "innocent until proven guilty"? Not often nowadays...

We traded harsh truth for pretty lies and entertainment and we'll be damned for it.
