The Last of Us Franchise - Because it's apparently a franchise now. This thread has been double-DMCA’d by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite would like to have a word with you. Or any overhyped game over the past decade that has fallen disastrously short of its intended sales target.
Yes, I wonder how much of that happened through a concentrated effort or boycott and not just people losing interest or not thinking the game is worth $60.

"Voting" implies you're taking an actual stance and doing something intentionally. I've never bought a Dark Souls game or anything like it because I'm shit at them and they don't interest me, that's not me taking a stance against that franchise or voting against it.

It is m/m buttsex and nothing shall convince me otherwise. Abby is a bottom and enjoys a good pounding.

I honestly wouldn't have been that bothered if it was a man. The Ellie/Dina stuff is *mostly* tasteful and doesn't really interfere with the story. Honestly, if it wasn't for the calling each other 'babe' and the literal two kiss scenes they get about 6 hours apart, I wouldn't even know they were anything more than friends.

Cuckmann can at least make wokeness not... *painfully* invasive.

This game bombing was always just a pipe dream, just like how most people understood that Rise of Skywalker was gonna make a billion just for being a SW movie, regardless of how shit it was.

Just because it makes its money back however, doesn’t mean it won’t kill the franchise. Sales often lag by one release because most consumers are going in blind, and thus pay for a shit game without KNOWING it’s shit. Once they have that one bad experience, though, they’re less likely to bite again for the next release.

There's next to no chance this game only barely slugs through the "Just enough to technically be successful" mark. A good sign the negs are desperation tactics is the sheer number of them using the phrase "The gameplay doesn't matter!" and "a good videogame isn't just about the gameplay!". Nobody's sincerely buying that. Shit, I can barely count how many people I know personally are "cringing at it XD" and yet still paid full price for it at launch, and have been playing it all day. Not only are normies buying it, but clearly even the people hoping it tanks? The fuck sense does that make?

So what'll be KiA's excuse for this thing selling mad copies? The Captain Marvel 'They bought up all their own stock!" or "They covered up the woke and nobody knew what they were getting!"?

Accurate.

Inaccurate. If enough people were seriously enraged by this game they wouldn't buy it. They aren't. Money machine go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and muh YouTubers are powerless to stop it, :story:
Well I mean if the audience reaction is anything to go by we're looking at another ME3 which was the beginning of the end for Bioware.
No wallets were involved with your first example since they changed course due to fan outcry before the console was even released, Bioware muddied the water with the ending of Mass Effect 3 and the problems with Andromeda were very visible immediately and idk much about Ghostbusters Afterlife but I'm guessing it wasn't actually Ghostbusters and people said "fuck this" before it was even released.

Yes, fan outcry before something is even released can work sometimes, that's not the same as "voting with your wallet" and the one example that involved wallets was just people refusing to buy a very clearly defective product after being dissatisfied with the previous one. TLOU isn't defective and it has great graphics and survival-horror gameplay that people are kinda starved for nowadays so no, "voting with your wallet" isn't going to work, fan outcry won't work either because this game has at least some merit and appeal, literally the only thing you can do is laugh about it.
If you're actually getting mad about this shit, you're a sperg and should be laughed at just as much as Neill Cuckmann,
Lol whut? MS changed course on the XbOne because Amazon released sales figures that showed the PS4 was destroying it in pre-order sales, before that Don Mattrick was openly mocking the fan outcry.

Bioware fell into free fall after ME3 pretty much destroyed their reputation and made people far more hesitant to buy their shit. There was copeposting for Dragon Age Inquisition but that sucked too and by the time Andromeda hit their reputation was pretty much in the ground already.

Ghostbusters Afterlife is Sony's "apology" and attempt to salvage the franchise after the previous movie crashed and left no survivors.

Just wait, just wait. The Dina/Ellie shit gets fucking PAINFUL.

This game is most going to sell well but there are three possible ways this could play out

Worst case secenario: This game sells really well to the point of making the first one look like a flop. However this comes at the cost of the userbase being so turned off that the third game sells far less if not outrigh flopping

Middle Case Scenario (most likely option): The game sells really well and makes a pretty decent profit but not as much as the first game and it falls short of Sony's expectations. Not enough for them to consider drastic action but enough for them to monitor the third game/any future ND projects carefully. Game 3 will sell worse than part .

Bestcase scenario: The game is an absolute flop: ND is not shut down since theyve been a pretty reliable cash cow in the past but Sony steps in and restructures things to prevent another flop: Most likely changes include Druckmann either being fired or having his role in the company reduced, measures being put in place to avoid crunch, and stricter internal security to prevent future leaks.

The best quote from him: "This is why it got a 10, a dead person could finish this game"

The game will sell, I've no doubt. Even with the amount of shit, it will sell. But TLJ and ROS sold, and Star Wars is basically dead and they're looking to fire Kathleen Kennedy desperately. Luckily Druckman is a straight white male, so he's easy to put into the garbage disposal, as they should.

A lot of people in this thread are severely underestimating how popular the Last of Us brand is. The first game was one of the biggest games of the seventh generation, a swan song for the PS3. It's still fondly remembered by a large number of people, so of course when a sequel gets announced those people are going to get excited regardless of what's in the trailers and especially the stuff that leaks months in advance. I don't think people realize that the average person doesn't care about that kind of thing and the only ones who do are autists like us. The Last of Us 2 was guaranteed to sell gangbusters on its name alone.

The fact is that not only is this true, but even with the leaks, revenge porn is a really popular genre right now- the new Rambo and John Wick immediately come to mind. This game was going to break the box office no matter what, only time will tell if it's looked on positively. I'm a sorta neutral party on this, as I was never a MASSIVE fan of the first game, but thus far it's honestly been... average. Like, it's better than a crappily thrown together indy game, it has all the polish of a triple A title, and the gameplay is tops, but the story and new characters are just really... *eh.* Even long after launch I see TLOU2 being a similar story to the first game- a constant companion to the 'last generation' gamers who swear by the old console generation and stick to the bargain bin until used next-gen consoles come out.

It’s just like the people who bitched endlessly about the Transformer movies, yet still saw each of them in theaters, sometimes more than once, and bought the Blu-ray releases. Sometimes they claimed it was because they are fans of the franchise and have to do it to be completionists, but more often than not, they just do it because hating it is the cool thing to do and they want to think they are cool.

A-lot of people will ignore * "It can't be that bad" * or go in blind when it comes to spoilers to things they like.

I saw this same thing with ME3 and GOT.

I think this game is attempting to have platforming sections but it's so shitty that getting around is more of a chore than anything. You just walk up to shit and press X or get a running start to jump across an area. The physics and movement don't feel as heavy as something like Red Dead 2 but they're not light enough to make it possible for any attempt at platforming to be fun. If you were gonna do this, why didn't you just make another Jak game? You know, their last franchise that was actually good.

No thanks, I'd rather Jak stays dead as a series at this rate than have the characters have a tranny orgy.
