I have a hunch that heather got exposed to COVID and has developed the blood clotting disorders associated with that condition. Abnormal clotting is one of the hardest things to manage about this disease, and you can have the blood clotting problems crop up without fever or lung problems or other typical symptoms. It is very rare for someone heather's age to suffer this kind of medical event, even with obesity (possibly hypertension?) thrown into the mix, women tend to be post menopausal before the risk becomes serious. Florida is having a pretty big boom in covid cases right now too, if I recall correctly. I could be wrong and she is just very unlucky, the stress she deals with certainly doesn't help.

Zach isn't getting much information because care teams are scrambling to decide what to do, informing him is not high on the priority list. If she isn't dead at the end of this, she is going to have a long road ahead. Aphasia= language associated areas of the brain were compromised, she will need some kind of rehabilitation after this. Being a younger patient makes her neurological prognosis better than an older person who suffered similar brain damage, but it still isn't good. Depending on how badly her brain bleed and clots up she could end up in a vegetative state.

Zach should have had a job like yesterday, for health insurance if nothing else. I also don't know how he would deal with her death psychologically, his friends are all on the internet, he hates his family of origin, and I don't think heather's family likes him very much. Penny ran away. I am going to guess he resorts to drug use? Not really sure. Doesn't seem good though. He has poor coping skills.

It could have happened either way (brain bleed causing a fall, or fall causing the bleed). Hard to tell exactly without more information. I was leaning towards a bleeding problem causing the fall because of "extensive clotting in the brain". Someone who has normal blood coagulation getting hit on the head, resulting in a brain bleed, does not usually spiral out of control like this.

I do feel for the kids. I still think Heather was a shitty mother, but kids usually love their parents no matter how awful they are. This has got to be confusing and terrifying for them. Thank God the grandmother is there to comfort them. Mr. Doom and Gloom Zach is the last person they need right now.

As for Zach, I have zero sympathy. He has never loved Heather. She is a paypig to him, nothing more. Any misery that arises from her death will only be about how awful it is for HIM. He doesn't even like the kids, so I'm sure he'll be more than happy to let the dad or grandparents take over.

If she manages to survive, I can see him bailing out on her because it is too "emotionally difficult" to handle all the stress of caretaking and providing and parenting -- all things that Heather has done on her own without his help for years. She is in the ICU, post procedure. I hope it is a big enough hospital to have a neuro ICU and not just a regular one.

Most people don't know this, but a good chunk of patients come out of the ICU traumatized. It is a really fucked up experience, especially if you're in there awhile. I hope they have her really doped up, at least.
