The Last of Us Franchise - Because it's apparently a franchise now. This thread has been double-DMCA’d by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

He died for no reason? Did you even play the first game and get to the end lol.
lol did you assume they have to be religious to progress? Are you really that dense lol. I stopped reading after that. Also Abby being buff is because her father is a big deal, he’s a doctor and the only man that knows how to find a cure, so she would be taken care of, in the game she’s an WLF, she got everything she needs, she got all the facilities.

Well World War 2 stories are evil and harsh. God forbid, they make a realistic take on the genre and make something unique lol.

You should follow your own advice.

As you have failed to notice in your own mind, all religion truly is is a set of hard beliefs based on faith and not reason.

Calling me dense and also saying you didnt read what I said is rich.

The most buff woman to ever buff will never be as buff as the man who takes the same amount of effort. The idea of a woman leading men in a post apocalypse is laughably stupid. Her duty would be to birth babies. Not fight.

No, world war 2 stories are about good triumphing over evil. This story seems to be about evil prevailing and everyone being miserable.

“Her duty would be to birth babies. Not fight.”

bahahahahha. I can’t take this stupidity, did you just assume women are useless, you do realize men aren’t gonna be just nice, they will be very desperate and unorganized cuz there is no justice or order to protect anyone, women will be raped, attacked, and all kinds of violence against her, I guess it’s impossible to have women fight back. You just assumed there is no athletic women for no reason, so you’re def dense. Actually gaining muscles and becoming strong is very important if you wanted to survive, I know you’re not used to it, cuz it’s all sexy women in games for you. In a world where there is really nothing to do other than fight, and survive, making babies is All it is. I guess women has to tell the zombie please don’t kill me, I’m just a baby maker lol. Take a load of this guy.

Can’t hate Laura Bailey because she voices another, better woman with a penis Kaine and like, doing shit just for the money? Sorry, passion doesn’t buy groceries or put gas in the car and voice actors get paid shit as it is.

Getting paid for two voices. Ok lol. Lani told me that "the strikers want residuals which is absolutely ludicrous since most of these games are free to download and the only money the publisher makes is from microtransactions"

This is a woman who has been in the business for decades as opposed to people like...say...Troy, Laura, Travis, even Jamieson Price. (And for what it's worth, Ryan Drummond was essentially like Faye Dunaway in terms of a client. Extreme diva.)

I love these lou2 memes that use crash bandicoot. I've said it before but it bears repeating, thank god he belongs to activision now. Say what you want about that company's fuck-ups but they make naughty dog look like Nintendo in comparison .

Edit; sorry didn't know he have a thread for them now

It's fine for you to like, or even love this game and its story. Power to you if you do.

However, your enjoyment does not change that the game is objectively badly-written, has terrible characterization, and is in all ways an inferior product to what was promised. The game has no levity, characters are introduced only to be abandoned just as quickly, the plot lacks cohesion throughout, Abby is completely unlikable, neither Joel nor Ellie are treated with even the slightest bit of respect and repeatedly act out-of-character with no justification, and I've read lemon slash-fiction on this very forum in which the site owner makes tender love to one of the mods that has a more dignified handling of mature themes than TLOU2.

The trailer material we now know to be so patently full of shit that it borders on a false advertising claim. You can feel free to enjoy it as much as you want, but you will never convince anyone here that this particular work of fiction is anything other than the tire fire it is.
No levity, yeah man we need to tell people that lived in world war 2 to fake it so that they forcefully look happy and change its history because it’s too dark for me lol. Last of us is that kind of world or event, it’s end of the world scenario, moment of levity is rare, and should be rare, and the funny thing is, there is fan service in the LOU2, but you wanted everything to have levity. You clearly never played the first game, Joel daughter died in the very beginning of the game, it’s a harsh world, deal with it. It’s not terrible writing if it’s logical and based on reality and actuality.

You don’t have to like Abby, that doesn’t make the story bad lol, she’s literally is no different than Ellie and Joel, if we switched between characters, Joel and Ellie would have done the same if they were in her shoes. People are just butthurt, and I actually liked Abby, I don’t prefer her over Joel or Ellie but she’s not just bad for the sake of it, she had an objective, she is a unique character and I think that was the point, was to see her point of view and perspective, shes not good or bad, a gray character, and let’s be honest you wouldn’t have forgave her no matter what they do to her because of what she did to Joel so let’s cut the bs. It got more interesting when Abby and lev happened, it changed the whole perspective, she lost everything and she wants to move on, a character doesn’t need to be likable to be called good writing. You don’t have to make a villain or anti-hero likable, I know you probably watched too much mcu movies, you wouldn’t understand, you think all characters needs to be super relatable to be called good writing, I guess we need to think joker is relatable if not it’s bad writing lol.

All trailers showed very little of Joel in fact that’s why people speculated him dying before even the leaks happened. It doesn’t matter, the game can change in the process, it’s a developing game, not something you make in few days. Also you already heard about the leaks so you would have known about it anyways but you already bought it or probably just watched.

You’re telling me every story needs to be inspiring and full of joy, you do realize the kind of world Last of Us is right? Or are you just dense or ignorant? I say both. It seems like there can’t be any dark and realistic harsh stories to be told anymore, everything has to be full of fake fan service, inserting hero endings cuz yeah all heroes in real life die like that, even tho most don’t. Also what does his daughter have to do with making a game about a harsh post apocalyptic world, it’s too realistic for your taste so you attack the man, saying he’s sick. I think you watched too much mcu movies. You’re far off from reality, and sadly we can’t make see realistic takes only fan service.
>Replying to someone who used Schindler's List as an example of a story with morality.
>"You're telling me every story needs to be inspiring and full of joy...?"
Now this is strawmanning!

Anyway @VicSav007 welcome to the farms Mr. Druckmann. Don't forget, you're here forever.

So as I said I did play it. Honestly, didn't hate like the first 18 or so hours.

I'm one of those sad austists that really likes the naughty dog way of making a game, so gameplay wise everything was good for me. I like adventuring around in abandoned cities and digging through the trash of the old world and I've actually spent a lot of time in Seattle so it was nice to see it all destroyed, give it another couple years of crazy leftism and we can go play the Last of Us part 2 exploration in real life. Yay.

Some of the flashback scenes with Joel were pretty good, like him and Ellie's dynamic is still the best part of this game series and of course they just par 5'd that right into oblivion. GG cuckmann. The first half where you play as Ellie works well enough with her doggedly hunting down the members of Abby's party who wronged her, torturing one to death in the basement of hospital was pretty good. Killing the support base of the weird love triangle and eventually admitting that yeah, we gotta get the fuck outta here with Dina being preggers and out of leads only for Abby to show up and kill Jesse unceremoniously and wound our boy, Tommy. This part of the game was fine, it should have ended here with a boss battle as you playing as Ellie and killing Abby in a fight but it doesn't, no.

Instead we go to where the game falls apart; after watching all the shit Abs McManshoulders has done to the characters we, the player give a shit about we go and play as her. This segment tries to humanize some of the rando's you end up killing but sadly I don't care. A: I still want them to die because to the player, me, they're still the bad guys who cracked my surrogate daddy's head open with a club. We also go deep into just how much of a fucking retard Butch Manjaw is, she almost immediately disobeys the orders of her faction to go help a friend who shot one of their own. We then go on a 10 fucking hour sidequest to help some dumbass transboy and his sister. I think the devs were trying to set up a Joel/Ellie dynamic with Abby and Translife boy but it doesn't work because you already hate one half of this pairing and the other is a dipshit who constantly makes stupid choices.

Abby then proceeds to betray her faction to get stuff for transboy's sister to amputate her arm. During this segment you callously kill members of transboy's former faction and while he's okay killing the shit out of them he gets mad when Abby calls them names. Like the fuck, dude. At some point during this one of Abby's friends fuck her, cheating on their pregnant girlfriend, couldn't remember when it happens but it does and even by my own degerate standards, I hated it. After this 10 hour sidequest is complete you save transboy's sister's life by having your friend chop her arm off. Transboy then goes back to his crazy cult home to try and convince their mother to join them, an action even the legendarily retarded Abby says is stupid and won't work. We then go to save transboy from his own retardation and find he's killed his own mom. His sister then dies like a retard and the leader of Abby's faction is then killed by the sister in her dying act. Abby then proceeds to just, kill anyone who isn't her or transboy. Coldly slaughtering people not even a few days prior had been friends and allies.

-This is our new hero, wow -

Then the boss battle against Ellie happens and we all know how that goes. I purposefully failed like, twenty times to find all the ways Ellie can kill Bolt Vanderhuge. My fav is still the shotgun to the chest.

The ending has us play a bit as Ellie, broken and jumpy from having her face smashed by Thud Meatcrunch and living with Dina, she decides to go for revenge again because that went so well last time. Translife Boy and Mort Manchest have gone to California because, even in the post apocalypse world that shit hole still attracts the gender weirdos like flies to fucking shit. They get captured by some gang that Ellie then fights her way through to the ending scene we've all watched by now. Like the fuck.

Overall it started strong, Joel's death was stupid and the creative decisions taken have probably murdered the franchise because the best thing going for it was those characters and the ones they wanted to replace them with are just awful. I got paid $4 to take this off the store's hands and honestly, as negative as I am about the game as a whole, I can always just play the first half and have an okay game.

I'd say it definitely seems like Druckmann got out of hand and I'm sure when they started having outsiders play test it they must've gotten more red flags than a parade in North Korea but they still pushed it out anyway. There are flashes of good and even brilliance but it's all buried under a fucking mess, kinda like if your sewer backed up into an art studio, sure there's still some really good things in there, but does anyone want to wade through that to get them?

Lev killing his mother sounds like some tumblr level fantasy. Which is perfect for Cuckman since his style is edgy teen fanfic writer.

"You'll never misgender me again mom!"

This might be ⏰ as fuck (and if so feel free to rate accordingly) because this thread exploded and I have around 70 pages to read before I catch up.

I'm finding it hilarious people are using LGBT representation as a defense of this game and saying one of the reasons for the awful reviews are that the dreaded white cis male gamer just hates teh geys and is afraid of playing games where the protagonist isn't a grizzled white dude. If I was someone who genuinely hated gays, this dumpster fire would be 10/10 GOTY material.

Think about it. You get to graphically beat up not one, but two lesbians to near death, the confirmed trans character is only important to the story on the part where they get deadnamed (the horror) and treated as their birth sex by people who do not give a fuck about their feelings, and Abby, who most people will assume is trans, is loathsome.

There is no positive LGBT representation in this game, everyone comes out looking bad. Ellie is an ass to others, ends up losing everything due to Abby and is retarded enough to forgive Abby and let her live in the end, all the while not forgiving Joel for saving her life. Dina is either a cheater or someone who easily discards people she supposedly cares about, as seen when she immediately leaves Jessie for Ellie after one drunken kiss, even though they were together for years. Lev's only character traits are sucking up to Abby (much like all the others in her group) and suffering from their transness from the Seraphites, because gender is something people care about after the world has gone to shit. Their background also makes it seem like they are only "trans" out of a desire to not be made a wife to the elders of the cult rather than any genuine desire of changing their gender. And then there's Abby, who I won't talk about because there's 400+ pages of people doing that already.

I find it hilarious that people are using the " straight cis males hate LGBTLMNOP representation" excuse when the actual LGBT representation in-game is should be seen as insulting. Two lesbians beaten almost to death by Stronkarms McManpecs. Confirmed transboy is just trying to prevent himself from being married off to a dirty old man. Dina is the town bike and I read earlier in the thread that Ellie is likely bi and not a straight out lesbian. In the first game she was looking at male pinups or something.

Being that bi-erasure is a real problem it seems like having an openly bi character shown in a poitive light would have been a way they could go.

And of course there is another, more serious real life problem to look at. Child brides. It's happening all over the world. I don't suppose Cuckman took the time to mention that before the shroombie apocalypse child brides were a very real and terrible thing. Wow. Remember how the #woke conveniently pretended Boko Haram didn't exist while simultaneously harassing white people for the cardinal sin of having dreadlocks?

Yet a whole synagogue magically appears where one never was in Seattle and we get bonus Jewish history lessons to boot. And Dina is so stereotypical that it should be seen as offensive.

At this point I would not be astounded if TLOU3 has even more genderspecials and ethnic stereotypes shoehorned into the post-apocalypse. I just feel like, in such a world, there would be some unique cultural trends and kids that have never known the pre-shroombie world would not be tumblr in a can or stereotypical ethnic cutouts. They'd have their own thing going. A creative person could really do something interesting there.

Then again I would hate to see what edgy future crap Cuckman would shit out instead of just recycling the current year.

I haven't watched a whole stream yet, just various scenes. So I am not sure if I am correct about addressing certain facts. But if Lev became a boy out of fear for his future autonomy then he does not have dysphoria. However, this is the current year. All Lev needs to do is say he is a boy to automatically count as trans. If he lived in our world he could get hormones faster than he could get takeout.

So I remember that Korean guy breaking the game was because the first game was sentimental to him because it released near after his father's death
And he got attached to Joel alot
And now they are pretty much bragging about killing him on Father's Day
It really puts into perspective that they are essentially mocking their audience for caring about Joel and it was probably extra hurtful to that dude since it's closely attached to losing his dad
but I guess anything for Neil to air out his obvious daddy issues by trolling people

No wonder he cut the disc in half. He talked for awhile before doing it. But I don't understand Korean so I didn't know what he was saying.

I would love to see Cuckman's psychological report.

Alright, I'll play ball.

It doesn't matter if Abby is justified or not because this is fundamentally bad writing. You have taken a character that the player has grown to love over the previous game, and was anticipating seeing the in the sequel, to have them killed off in the first two hours, before the player has even learned much about Abby at all. At that point it's done, the player doesn't care about Abby's motives anymore. The player is going to fucking loathe Abby because she killed Joel. You see this in almost every single let's play, the whole time they're like "I can't wait to kill Abby", the writing fails because it tries to justify Abby after she has killed the character players loved so much.

Abby isn't even portrayed as a villain, or in the wrong. Abby is portrayed as in the right, as she gets rewarded for taking revenge while Ellie loses everything trying to do the same. This is just going to make the player go from loathing Abby to despising Abby, especially when Abby is shown to be in a very presitigous situation.

Wtf, both Abby and Ellie lost everything for the sake of revenge, at the end Ellie only had Dina and Abby only had Lev, all Abby friends have died, including her dad, she tried to move on. Seriously don’t try to argue if you didn’t play the game. Don’t waste my time.

Whatever Niel; your game is shit and wasting life defending it means you just come closer to people dancing at your grave with nothing to show for it.

As for why I'm calling you Niel, I'm pretty sure he's the only one who doesn't think the game designed around his own ego is shit.
“Dancing in your grave” bruh look at you getting triggered over a game. Dude I want to tell you a secret, Joel is a fictional character! he’s not real, he doesn’t exist! You’re so attached to him it’s crazy lol. Neil co-wrote and co-directed the first game too, it’s his game not yours. It’s his stories not yours, so you don’t have to be entitled to it.

Friendly reminder that a scrapped plot point for the first game had Tess as an active antagonist, chasing Joel through the entire country

Isn’t that the entire reason why this game gets all the praise? For the characters being relatable and realistic because it’s a game and you’re directly controlling them?
Let me tell you a little secret: if you take away the gameplay and turn this into a movie, or maybe even a book, this would drown in the sea of Young Adult storys with mediocre writing and bland characters.
The reason why Joel was so relatable is that he‘s bland enough from a writing point of view to put yourself into his shoes. His loss of a loved one is something we all can relate to because every single person on this gay earth has felt an unjustified loss in their life.

Besides, have you actually read the files in the first game, specially in the hospital? The Fireflies has several immune children, but every single time they botched the operation, killed the patient and didn’t gain any valuable information about this kind of mutation.
It’s almost as if removing a fungus infested brain would also destroy any kind of knowledge on how it functions.
But Dr. Steroid might be lucky this time! The 25th time‘s the charm, right?

Just finished the campaign.
Yup, it was pretty meh. Not good, not bad. It's just as 'good' as the first one but that's about it.
I went immersive the first time so I set it to the easiest because I wanted to appreciate the story. Problem is the story gets muddled with flashbacks; they even do the dreaded flashback in a flashback. The first game was lightning in a bottle.
Recreating that is hard as fuck.
Instead of having one stellar storyline to suck you in they had two subpar stories. So you don't find yourself becoming associated with characters that just 'pop' in. Who's Manny? Who's Jesse? You'll never know because their time is so limited. I think that The Last of Us should have been a stand alone story. Abby should have been the focal point in this one. They introduce this entire conflict between a group of cultists called Seraphites and a military-like faction called WLF. They're at war and it's gruesome and brutal. So instead of the poopy revenge plot we could have had a whole new story with a whole cast. Getting an opportunity to develop them further.

The general consensus doesn't lie.

This feels to me like the obvious: Kill off gruff, masculine male protagonist by hand of STRONK wymyn because STRONK wymyn can do anything".

If the point was to set up a flipped script on grizzled male protagonists they did it wrong. Especially since current year types act as if those protagonists are all clones of each other. Well congratulations, you made Abby into a "female?" version of how you perceive all of those male protagonists. Great job. What a wonderful piece of stereotypical slime we got. You literally created what you hated. Only Abby is totally different because we are supposed to believe she has a vagina.

I don't believe she has a vagina.
