I wish Heather had woken up with no memory of Zach. Like she could remember the kids, her mom, everything -- but a big old blank where Zach used to be. She should have faked that anyway. Would have been the perfect excuse to cut him out of her life.

How long until Zach tweets about asking the doctor how soon Heather can return to work? I'm going to be generous and guess 3 days.

Yes, give the medical professionals a good long look at what Heather's married to. That'll definitely give them a clearer idea of what the underlying problem is in that household.
Some powerlevel, but doctors are VERY good realising that something's wrong with a patient's personal life and they know exactly what to ask. That's why many of them complain too when they're demanded to see too many patients because they can't talk properly with them and figuring out if stress and anxiety are a factor in your life is sometimes the answer to many problems that seem like came out of nowhere. When I was myself in the hospital, they realised I was depressed and they gave me some help with that too.

It's gonna be easier for the doctors to figure out what's wrong in Heather's life once Zach shows up with a big bag of the family's dirty laundry asking what to do with it.

Not only do they have no insurance, but their current standard of living relies on Heather working 7 days a week, from 65-80 hrs a week. That kind of workload is known to make young, healthy attorneys crack up and fall apart. Heather certainly won't be able to maintain anything like that work schedule now. How are they going to replace that lost income?
The boys are old enough to flip burgers ain't they?

One is. :( & I think he's got cognitive issues even though Mommy sez he's a genius. He was fifteen at the time of. . . whatever this was.

The younger kid, who I think is preteen age, is "on the spectrum" per Stepmom of the Year.

Heather's kids might actually be literally retarded & they'll have to pick up the slack for Heather before Zach even thinks about lifting a finger. That thought makes me deeply, indescribably sad.

I'm really hoping Heather does the right thing & ships the kiddos off to Norway to stay with their father for a while, because according to Heather the boys have already exhibited behavioral problems & anxiety issues. I'm inclined to believe this because if they're as developmentally-delayed as I suspect (or at least the eldest is), terrible anxiety is par for course. (Think of how CWC assumes "defensive hedgehog position" when he gets overstimulated.) A turbulent home life that was already unstable at best before the only parental figure that kept them somewhat grounded had to be medvac'd out is not what those boys need, especially not right now.

This is fucked. I don't like Heather, but she doesn't deserve this.
Two procedures to remove blood clots in two days is very bad news.
I didn't think so. The fact that clots keep building up so quickly is also extremely worrisome.

What. . .what causes blood clots in the brain to keep multiplying like this? What the fuck happened to poor Heather?

God, I really hope the boys are okay.

Zinnia, if you're reading, send the boys to be with their grandmother for a while. Real talk, no mockery, no shitting on you. I'm an asshole, but I'm not a sociopath. You're understandably really upset (to put it mildly) but they're depending solely on you now. That's a lot for any one parent to deal with. This is going to seriously fuck them up & they should be spared as much of this as possible. I hope to all hell Heather pulls through, but I'm becoming increasingly less optimistic.

I'm not Heather, but if I was in this kind of condition where death was a real possibility, I wouldn't want my kids to see it, or to watch their co-parent suffer.
Jake. I have no idea what he means by Round 1.

HOLY SHIT JAKE WILL YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP

My opinion of her has generally been fairly low, even while acknowledging that she’s essentially a victim of abuse, because of the kids and the environment they’re growing up in. She should have given Tubby the boot years ago. But still, I don’t wish actual harm on her.
HOLY SHIT JAKE WILL YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP
The comedian Harry Enfield had this character who had the catchphrase, “Only me!” The big joke being that he was an annoying fucker who’d stick his nose in and just piss everyone off with his unhelpful suggestions and pomposity. Anyway, whenever Jake chimes in on someone’s crisis, I mentally read it as, “Only me!”

You guys are all being far too generous towards Heather, who spent (maybe the last) years of her life being a paypig incel slave to one of the most toxic and creepy goblins on Earth at the cost of not just her health but the well-being of her children. Remember this woman is barely 30 38 years old and she's been his supplicant for nearly a decade. She's dedicated almost a third of her adult life to him, and it took such a toll on her that she got the looks and health of a dumpy cat lady in her 50s. She's so incorrigible that not even a near death experience like this is going to give her an epiphany.

And being raised by an economically illiterate, venomous troll who hates everyone and everything, all day, every day, is going to take its toll on the kids the same way it did on Heather.

Okay okay I understand. Zach needs to take his mind off the troubling situation. But can he find a more healthy thing to dwell on, like music, literature, and baking cookies?
Exhibit A.

Best possible outcome here is the fat enabler dies, the kids finally go into a healthy household with their dad, and Zach ends up in a drainage ditch after years of fighting debt.

You're not wrong. . .but still.

If she makes it out of this alive I will be very, very surprised.

I take no pleasure in saying this, but Heather's on borrowed time. There's no coming back from this. If I'm proven wrong than I will be thrilled but traumatic brain injuries can go very wrong in a hot second.

I know I'm being an autistic emotional fagette about this but I really can't find it in my heart to shit on ZJ right now despite. . .well, everything.

I'm sure this will change very soon, though.

Logically I know the kids are better off without a home that includes Zach in it, but I'm still hoping for the Hollywood ending where Heather makes a full recovery -- including the parts of her brain that have been dead for the last 10 years -- and leaves Zach in the dust. I want a "frankly my dear, I don't give a damn" moment from this train wreck. Because Zach won't be able to play the grieving "widow" and act like he loved her soooo much. If she left him, he'd turn on Heather in a minute showing his narc rage. That would be way more entertaining. And to the bitter end, when he's lying in that ditch drawing his final breath -- he will still call out for Penny Hobo, not Heather.

Heather dying would just be sad followed by months of Zach playing the grieving widow and after all the shit he's put her through, he doesn't deserve to get to play victim.

even if they get it under control the chance of a permanent or long term issue with her brain goes up a lot each time. This is regardless of the obvious mortality risk.
Either way, the days of Heather working two jobs while Zach sits at home and tweets about sticking things up his ass are going to have to come to an end.

Definitely.

Either the mom moves with them to help or they move with the mom and if she's in charge, she's not gonna be paying for Zach's dildos. It's either "go to work" or hit the road.
