Eh, kinda yes and kinda no.

New Atheism was more or less the immediate direct predecessor to today's SJW's but at the same time, I don't think it was part of some grand conspiracy to destroy Christianity either.

The New Atheists of the 2000's were able to gain so much traction organically mostly because the Religious Right were bugfuck insane Evangelical Protestant traditionalist faggots who shat the bed in the previous culture war and more or less had become synonymous with Christianity as a whole. Which was highly unfair to the majority of devout Christians, I might add.

Granted, the New Atheists were just as awful even before they went woke

Because they weren't being violent about it at the time and because they were mostly focused on arguing or shaming people about their religion, aka Christians, and by and far went after white Christian, never Hispanic ones. The key here is that they can go after the people and no one would care because whatever, its not you or me.
The difference now, is openly attacking churches, which are a symbol of Christianity in itself. Doesn't matter who you are and what sect you're in, a church is a church and if they're willing to burn down one somewhere else, they're willing to burn down your local church. You can't ignore that, they're not arguing for you to forget about God, at that point they're willing to get rid of you for your faith.

True, although one of the reasons why the euphoric atheist douchebags mostly went after white Christians and not Latinos in the 2000's had more to do with the fact they were mainly going after Protestant Christianity (particularly the Evangelicals) as opposed to anything race-related

The Evangelical Protestants were the backbone of the old Religious Right, which the New Atheist movement were mainly formed in response to. To them, the Catholics were beneath suspicion aside from the occasional sperging over abortion or the pedophile priest scandals that got a lot of media coverage at the time.

The fact that the most egregious of the fundies like Jack Chick or the Westboro Baptist Church were staunchly anti-Catholic and considered it to be Crypto-Paganism or even Crypto-Satanism probably also helped as well, and it's also why a lot of the Zoomer neo-traditionalist faggots like Fuentes and The Distributist are Catholics and not Protestants.

I wouldn't read that much into it. Fuentes was raised in a Catholic household and Chesterton's Distributism originates from a Papal Encyclical. There are dissident right Protestants too, especially on the further-right wignat side like Super Lutheran and Miles Poland.

Oddly enough it was a predecessor to both SJW shit and the GG-style "right". I got introduced to the "anti-SJW" internet bubble by following euphorics like Thunderf00t, right when the SJWs made their power grab by transferring the "sexual harassment at tech conferences" hysteria of 2009-2010 to the New Atheist con circuit. Those who went along with it got absorbed into the broader SJW movement, and those who didn't said "IRL shit is gay anyway" ,fled to Youtube, and turned into the Skeptics(tm), noticing the pseudo-religious overtones of far-left horseshit quite early on. Of course back then they thought it was a bunch of idiots and scam artists from Evergreen and Tumblr running gay ops, rather than the beginnings of a radical transformation of society 60 years in the making.

Some were established enough (like Dawkins or Harris) to maintain their personal followings without changing much at all, and just dialed up the Trump/Brexit bashing to avoid the lynch mob.

A+ was so blatantly retarded that it collapsed almost immediately when they tried to make it a thing. Soon they learned that they are far better at stealing existing institutions than making new ones, so they turned the Centre for Inquiry and a few similar orgs into puppets and called it a day.

Even before the woke takeover there were some politicisation. All the way back in 2012 AronRa delivered an hour long speech about how Texas Republicans and the Republican party in general are being steered by "Christian Reconstructionists" who basically wanted white sharia, and that means a vote for the Pubs is a vote to bring things back to the Victorian era. In the years leading up to the takeover they talked up the religious right into such a boogeyman that you'd think they were me or some riot thread doomer talking about the left, and with such a specter hanging over them they were ripe for conversion.
