Narcissist people have a gift to make everything about themselves. Even if someone's dying in front of them, they will claim they are the real victims for how much it affects them. In Zach's vapid mind, he is the victim, even if Heather isn't to blame: he's gonna be without a roof, no food, no job, no money, a widower... Heather will "only" be dead.

Now, if you think about it, he's not completely wrong. The children will go with either dad or grandma and will be fine. I know losing a parent is terrible, but kids are very good at getting better very bad situations. They will grow up and be normal people. Heather's mom will probably mourn her daughter, but she still isn't dependent on her, she lives her own life. She'll be fine.

Zach has no one.

Zach can't comfort anyone, so he will autistically keep track of the details of her care. Its something. I don't want to shit on his effort too much because staff annoyance matters much less than patient safety, and having a hall monitor-type keep track of shit really does make it harder for medical errors to occur. Errors kill a ridiculous number of people each year. On the other hand, nurses that kill people on purpose virtually always choose whoever is annoying them the most.

yeah, notice the way zach writes "i went to check on her immediately". that word is unnecessary/red flag.

"i went to check on her and she fell on her left side..." that reads just fine & the way anybody else would report the event.

the way he injects IMMEDIATELY is very strange & sticks out like a sore thumb. no it wasn't immediately.

i wonder how long it actually was.

It was however long it took him to stop automatically ignoring the kid wailing at him, hear "Mommy's BLUE", remember he's unemployable, and then grudgingly get out of bed to see why these damn kids won't leave him the fuck alone.

Yeah he's also saying how he is taking care of everything and doing xyz for the kids, but then of course drops in the bit about the gofundme.

He is scurrying around like a roach, trying to appear busy and helpful while he expects the government and gofundme donors (friends and acquaintances who have jobs) to provide for the wife and kids in their time of need.

He is also calling Heather the love of his life, just like he went running to her "immediately." Sure, Jan.

Yep, I doubt he went with Heather immediately. For starters, a fall in the shower isn't likely to cause much noise. I mean, it can happens, but it's rare. If the bathroom was inside their bedroom, then probably he heard, but if it wasn't, it's not loud enough to wake someone who's sleeping as I'm absolutely sure she takes a shower with the door closed so the kids won't get inside.

If the kids were already up, I think it's more likely THEY heard any sound and they called 911 while this fucker was freaking out. ETA: and if they weren't, HE WOKE THEM UP to call 911....
