The mob (aka the white liberal) is a mix of 2nd wave feminism, participation trophies, and telling every kid they're unique and special. They grow up narcissistic. It seems that all roads to SJW/IDpol seem to go back to OWS. Its possible it was a glow in the dark (CIA or the financial sector) op to destroy OWS with bullshit like microaggressions and the progressive stack. Before OWS, these ideas were on the fringes. Jimbo talked about this in one of his early streams. Its pretty good sum-up.

Obama getting re-elected put a seed into the minds of the Dems that they were unstoppable. There was some book or article from the 2000s that talked about the shifting demographics that would keep the dems in power forever. I don't personally agree with this theory. Demos change with the flow of time. But the dems bought the theory. They thought Obama getting re-elected meant that the GOP was over. They were going to die out and no one would fill their ranks. Thus they thought Hilary was going to be a cake walk. She didn't need to campaign in the rust-belt. The working class was going extinct. Illegals, the Spanish, and blacks would be their new base. Get them and you have every election in the bag. California, Texas, Ohio, Florida, and New York were the only states to campaign in. Mostly Cali and NY.
Trump was never supposed to happen. He wasn't supposed to win. He was supposed to be a symbol of the past. If the Dems didn't pay attention to Trump, they might have gotten Jeb instead. Having the media focus on Trump was the one of the hugest mistakes the dems made.
A lot of, if not most of, the major figures in SJW/IDpol movements are from well off families. Most of the major opponents of GG were from well off families (Quinn, Macintosh, Quinn's BF during GG Alex Lifschitz).

@Local Fed below. These people don't have to worry about their next meal or next month's rent or car payment, they can sniff their own farts all day long. These are the people really pushing for change. Mainly because they need something to do. For most of them, it isn't a part of some grand scheme to take over everything. For some it is.
You don't see a ton of working class people into IDpol shit. Mainly house wives. The working class either failed and latched onto idpol or grew out of it when joining the workforce. Or their parents brought them up right.
This is not taking black people into consideration.

This is a great summary of things. To add to this, when I was in the bubble, during the Obama era, on the various lefty blogs, the "the GOP was over" thing was very very real.
They were openly talking about how the GOP was over, the GOP had been driven off a cliff, how the right wing in the US had been pushed out into the political wilderness and would need to spend 20, 30 years out there rediscovering themselves before they found their way back and could ever win another national election. Basically, the stance was that the GOP would have to rebrand themselves as "Liberal-lite."
This was at the same time the radical left was trying to push the various blogs ever-further to the left, by claiming that the US was always a fascist, far right country. How the DNC was really center-right. How the US didn't even really HAVE a left leaning party, because
we don't even have open socialists running. How we needed to go further left, ALWAYS FURTHER LEFT, and refuse to work with anyone even close to center, yet alone right wing.
So you had the radical left sneaking around trying to institute purity spirals and push the party further and further to the left by intentionally manipulating the Overton Window, all while the rest of the left had convinced themselves, due to epistemic closure (self-made hugboxes via banning and blocking anyone who disagreed; this was early days of software created hugboxes) that the entire world agreed with them and they only were losing the occasional election because of... CHEATING! Yeah, that's it! Those stupid GOP assholes keep demanding Voter ID -- which is uh, bad, so lets call it something bad, like uh, racist -- which suppresses the Democratic vote. It's not that people disagree with the Democrats -- that's not possible, since
they agreed with the Democrats, and rational people who don't agree with them don't exist, only evil stupid redneck tea partiers ever disagreed with the Democrats. No, the RNC and the GOP and the like clearly have to CHEAT to win elections.
... which means it's ok if the DNC... uses some creative tactics. It's not cheating, it's just making things fair. Right?
One thing you didn't touch on is Academia. Back in the 70s, when it became very obvious that Marxism doesn't work in reality, you had Marxists take two stances on this "crisis of faith."
On one hand, you had the French and Jewish Intellectuals in Europe retreat to the Frankfurt School and retool Marxism as "Cultural Marxism." Basically swap Rich vs Poor for Majority vs Minority. You can tell this is spot on because Wikipedia won't even let you talk about "Cultural Marxism," as they claim it's a conspiracy theory. (Similarly, back in the early days of GamerGate, even mentioning the term SJW was labeled a "conspiracy theory." It's one of those thought-terminating rhetorical weapons they like to use.) This is where you get things like BLM (which is a Cultural Marxist operation in the US), the oppression Olympics, etc.
On the other hand, you had the Marxists in America, which fled into Academia when it became obvious that bombing the US into a cultural revolution in the 70s wasn't going to work. These people realized that Marxism wouldn't work when presented with the simple facts of the 60s and 70s... but they
felt like it
should... and really, don't their
feelings matter as much as your
facts? In other words... You had people who held Marxism as a religion, who had a crisis of faith when reality slapped them down. Their answer? Feelings DO matter as much as fact! In fact, there's no such thing as Facts, Data, Logic, and Reason!
Those are merely the tool of the unbeliever! The oppressor! All discussions, every single one, are just POWER STRUGGLES between two or more groups of people! So you have two "factions" or perhaps tactics. The former -- everything is majority vs minority. The latter -- everything is a power struggle and literally nothing is real. The former is where you get every single wedge issue being created to attack the west, the latter is where you get insane bullshit like "Microagressions" and "biology is a social construction." And there's a lot of overlap between the two.
As I've mentioned, I'm rapidly approaching blackpill on this stuff. I don't see it getting fixed in our lifetimes. Antifa is just a symptom. BLM is just a symptom. The real problem is that these insane fucks are still in colleges, not only indoctrinating kids and young adults -- every year they push for more and more people to be REQUIRED to take their indoctrination classes -- but also pushing their ideals into more and more educators, spreading it further and further out second and third hand.
There's this old video, from before Dr. Jordan Peterson really took off, when some soy golem from a Canadian college flat out explains that there's no such thing as biology. Biological sex is a social construction. It isn't real. X and Y chromosomes might exist, but they're no different than any other DNA strand and have no basis in reality.
As long as people like that are teaching kids and young adults, teaching other educators, and setting legal and educational policy, this problem isn't going away. It's only going to get worse.
