The people in Minneapolis [and other locales] aren't going to be very pleased when they realize that disbanding/defunding the police department only paved the way for private security firms like the Pinkertons, Blackwater, Securitas, etc. The guys who work for those security firms/groups are often better trained than police officers. There will be no badge numbers to write down and no accountability whatsoever. These guys have a job to do and they don't give a shit about accountability, complaints, misbehavior or inappropriate use of force. They're typically more heavy-handed than police too. And guess who these private security guys will be protecting? If you're some limber-dicked dumbass in Minneapolis who wanted this shit to begin with, I have bad news for you: They're not protecting you. They're protecting the council people and politicians who wanted this shit to happen, and they'll be protecting the remaining businesses too most likely. They don't give a shit about laws or regulations. They get paid decent money because they have a track-record of not letting stupid shit happen on their watch and they're not going to let you ruin their reputation. You thought the cops were bad? Spent a lot of time whining about tear gas and pepper balls? Just wait until you get your skull cracked or your shit kicked in by a guy from Blackwater, whose identity you won't know because there's no name sewn on their uniforms and no badge numbers.
It's the very same hypocrisy of these Democratic politicians who tell you that you have no reason to own a gun. They have security guards with guns to protect them, and unless you're doing pretty well, I doubt you'll be able to afford the same. They think nobody needs a gun because they don't need one, they've got six big dudes with guns following them everywhere. If you don't own a gun because you 'don't support the 2nd Amendment' then the police are the only ones standing between you and the guys with ill intent who want bad things to happen to you. If you get robbed, beaten up, shot at, whatever and you run to these security guards because all the police are gone, they'll tell you to pound sand because they weren't hired to protect you and it's not their job. They won't give a shit. Leftists tend to believe that all people naturally have good intentions. They're optimistic to a fault. Tell that to the guy who wants to kick your door in at 3AM because he ran out of crack and needs some quick cash. Tell that to the guy who wants to kick your ass because you bumped into him.
These cities might not be the wild west anymore, there aren't that many people [statistically] who want to murder you for no reason, but they still exist and defunding or disbanding local law enforcement is a fast and efficient way to go back to the wild west. Except most people in lawless towns during that period packed a gun, the fuck are you going to do? You're even worse off than they were. Call a social worker up I guess. Maybe they can talk Travis the Tweaker down by telling him that the reason he stole all of your shit is because his dad didn't buy him any toys during his childhood. Part of the reason crime rates aren't too bad in most areas is because the stiff penalties for these crimes will dissuade people from committing them. Take the penalties away and those guys will view your house, your car, your property as a fucking smorgasbord ripe for the taking and because you defunded the police department and don't own a gun, there won't be a god damn thing you can do about it. Maybe some good samaritan will help you out, but relying on the kindness of strangers is a fool's errand.
