March 13th: The Swedish National Health Agency says they're going to stop trying to track and trace and only test limited groups of people because it's no longer important to know how many people have been infected.
June 27th: the Swedish government orders the National Health Agency to start track and tracing actively because the "we'll have achieved herd immunity by May" strategy isn't working out quite as epically as they thought it would. http://archive.md/D8a0D
No, it's other countries who are in the wrong for not having the right Sverigebild.

Anders Tegnell: Should trace infections more actively
The Public Health Authority has received a new assignment from the government in terms of infection detection.
- We will start working more actively again to find all contacts that an infected person may have had, says state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell in an interview with DN.
In March Anders Tegnell became a public figure. As Sweden's state epidemiologist he has received both rice and praise for how the Public Health Authority and the government have chosen to handle the corona outbreak.
Now, in an interview with DN, he says that the Public Health Authority has been given a new assignment by the government. Now, it will support the regions in a more active infection-tracking work similar to what was carried out at the beginning of the pandemic when travelers returned to Sweden from, for example, Italy.
Tegnell: Not feasible in Stockholm yet
The details of how it will go will be presented next week, but Tegnell tells the newspaper that the work will be introduced gradually. Finding all the contacts that an infected person may have had is easier in regions with few cases.
- In Stockholm, where we have a few hundred cases a day, it is not yet feasible. There we may have to concentrate on getting infected in the elderly care or medical care.
"An experiment"
In June, several countries that went down in closure began to open up again. Some have opened quickly, others more gradually. In recent days, the number of infected has risen in over 20 of the US states.
Tegnell calls the opening "a great experiment".
- Many people say that we do an experiment in Sweden, but in that case we are definitely not alone in it. Opening is a gigantic one. When you are at the high level that you were in the US, then you get very big effects when you open again. Then you have not pressed it. When you have pressed it as much as you have done in Denmark, you get a much longer deadline. Then maybe you can keep the infection down.
Is it our fault for not having our own house in order?Tegnell: Other countries overestimate travel risks
Denmark and Norway have already closed - and when the UK reports in next week's Swedes will be ported.
Sweden is painted as a "pariastat".
- Sweden has been examined more than other countries and then it is good that we are very open and capable of reporting data, says Anders Tegnell.
The world opens up but Sweden must not be on the train.
The image of Sweden has become a thorn in the current coronary pandemic and the Swedish strategy has been described as controversial and has been criticized internationally.
- Partly it is because our strategy has been so different from other countries, which it really is not, says Anders Tegnell.
This summer, however, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is releasing the advice to travel to ten different countries - these are countries that have eased on their borders.
But there are still countries that do not let in Swedes.
The UK is expected to decide next week to admit citizens from a number of countries - Italy and Spain included. Swedes will continue to be deported.
Denmark announced on Thursday that the border with Sweden will be kept closed - however, southern Swedes may be admitted.
"Overestimate the risks"
Anders Tegnell does not believe in closing boundaries:
- I think that you totally overestimate the risks of traveling during a period when the infection is actually everywhere at a fairly low level. The risk that travelers take with individual cases is certain, but it will not in any way seriously affect the epidemic in any country, as I see it.
Nor does the state epidemiologist agree with the international picture that Sweden is in a difficult position.
- We have a lot of data that tells us what reality looks like. But it is unfortunate in a situation when there is a lot of discussion about where to travel and where the risks are.
