Correct me if I am wrong on this. It just doesn't make sense that she becomes incoherent, emotional, pathological liar (and talentless hack) because of chemotherapy.
Ill go ahead and vaguely power level, but as a medical professional working in an certain oncology specialty: I can tell you for sure that’s not how chemo is given. There’s so many reasons why that wouldn’t be how chemo is administered, but the most common sense one would be that insurance fights like hell to cover someone sitting in a $1,000 chair for 6 hours every week/month with multiple oncology nurses supervising, much less an MRI machine. Almost every single chemotherapy setting I’ve seen is very comfortable chairs or beds with injections running and nurses supervising. It would be pointless to be in or near any magnetic machine while receiving chemotherapy. I’m familiar with the latest forms of chemo and they’re still given the same way as they’ve always been. Specifically, Keytruda seems to be the most popular brand in most of the head and neck as well as endometrial chemo settings I’ve worked with in the past 2 years. It’s injected straight into the vein.
The only thing even remotely close to what she could be talking about is Amifostine, which is administered for head and neck cancers as a chemotherapy treatment while also having a separate radiation therapy via a linear accelerator at another time than the chemo injections. A linear accelerator could be confused for an MRI machine by people of Alanus’s intelligence. You don’t get chemotherapy and radiation therapy at the exact same time. Maybe one after the other near the same time period depending upon the doctor, but she doesn’t know what she’s talking about at all. They also would clearly educate you on what’s going on and there’s no sort of confusion about getting chemotherapy through a “MRI like machine” to an actual patient. Rather it seems Alanna might be following someone on social media or a relative who has thyroid cancer and is trying to explain away the process she sees and also wanting cancer sympathy for herself.
A fatal flaw in this bullshit she's spewing though is that you don’t get radiation via a linear accelerator for thyroid cancer since it would expose your whole head and neck to radiation when thyroid cancer is much more easily treated via radioactive thyroid ablation. Since the thyroid is the only organ that can process iodine, they administer radioactive iodine directly to the thyroid. The thyroid typically distributes the iodine to the same areas it administers any cancerous cells to. They tend to kill each other, but the process also pretty much kills your thyroid due to that much radiation. It can cause brain damage, but not nearly as much as a linear accelerator pointed at your neck would. That whole process could be explained away more simply by googling “Radiation Therapy Thyroid” and seeing only ablations are used. Definitely not your typical cancer radiation therapy. Another nail in the coffin is that Chemo is also stopped for about a week before and after a Thyroid ablation if you even need chemo afterwards.

I really hope this is her. (It is, see the edited spoiler) The face and nose is the same despite aging. The eye color says they’re different, but that’s pretty common with booking officers mistaking eye color. It would be a coincidence for two Alanna Jean Morrises of the same age in a small BFE town. Her prison grammar is starting to make sense though. Maybe she will end up sharing a cell with Charlie.
