Still in my old employers group chat, and recently the CEO stated they plan to introduce a social justice oversight committee in the company. They also created a new email address for people to send their "ideas" on how to make this work. I took my own advice and sent an email. People asked to hear what I said in the open group chat previously, but I didn't share due to power level concern. Figure I should share what I send via private email just to avoid #thathappened accusations. Names and places obviously redacted.

I have thought about how to approach this. Because I believe that the truth needs to be stated openly no matter the consequences. Or at least, the truth as it is believed by the individual. I do not fear me speaking my own truth, but I understand the need to respect the institution and not allow unnecessary drama to infect its functioning.

That said, I am doing this privately and with the earnest plea of someone who has worked for this company for years. Do not do this. It is said the road to hell is paved with the best of intentions and in this case it could never be more true. More and more often I am reminded of Abraham Lincoln's inaugural address of 1861. " In your hands,my dissatisfied fellow countrymen, and not in mine, is the momentous issue of civil war"

It is telling then that the same type of mobs that destroyed the windows at XXXXX also tore down statues of Abraham Lincoln.

What is being espoused right now on the streets of our city and America writ large is an authoritarian religious dogma, complete with a devil (Institutional Racism), Original Sin (White Privilege) and an irredeemable horde of heretics (White supremacists). The latter of course never being so cut and dry and happily applied to everyone and anyone who defies the will of the religions adherents. And it shows. After all, to the Catholics of the 16th century, the people of Meso-America were irredeemable heretics. As were anyone accused of witchery in the Massachusetts bay colony. So to now are anyone who wants to question why the goal has moved away from racial equality to racial retribution. The history of the consequences of these policies is very clear. If enforced by an overwhelming majority, the offending minority is violently killed by extra judicial methods. But if the targeted group has strength of its own, the only outcome is war.

In the case of our small little company, your plan to institute a "inclusivity committee" will introduce this war into the company, and empower people outside the corporate chain of command with power to enforce policy according to the dictates of an ideology many of your employees, myself included, view not just as misguided, but an existential threat. Not to some foolish notions of racial supremacy but to the very survival of the United States itself.

And back when I was a young 17 year old kid, I swore an oath to defend this nation. And that oath now compels me to say as loud as I can what you want to do will not bring this company, or this country together. You will turn race against race, brother against brother, in a futile and grasping effort for power. And it will destroy you. And by extension us as well.

And so I close with another Lincoln quote from the same speech.

"I am loth to close. We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battle-field, and patriot grave, to every living heart and hearthstone, all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature"

Heard some of that earlier too, but this seemed more genuine confusion? He was asking did they mean they were prostitutes? How were they taken? What does he mean taken? Might’ve been joking though, I’m not as familiar with his streaming personality.

I guess I can't really be sure but that's kinda in line for him plus he's more drunk than he usually is at this time of night.
