It’s also a very childish response. We’ve removed the places and systems where kids used to get properly educated. Education used to include being exposed to opposing views with the goal of allowing you to see them, and if you agreed or disagreed, giving you the education, eloquence and tools to debate. When I was a student, we regularly went to see speakers we disagreed with because it was seen as enriching your world view, seeing how other people thought, and allowing you to argue your own views using facts and logic and rhetoric. We also were not taught history as ‘baddies v goodies.’ It was more nuanced than that.
Now university classes are safe spaces. Schools are dumbed down. Political debate shows arent two sides putting their views across and debating civilly - they’re the televised equivalent of zoo animals flinging shit at each other. Very few people create good monologues, it’s two sentences of twotter post. Very few news outlets analyse facts in context. Its 24 hour news and click bait ‘journalism.’
Very few younger people are allowed to listen to opposing viewpoints in a civil way. When was the last time you heard two people on opposite sides talk civilly in the media? That kind of ‘i strongly disagree with your second point there Jeff, because (fact, opinion.)” kind of talk? It’s all POW I OWNED YOU HOT TAKE now.
So all they’re left with is playground insults. And shitting themselves. They literally do not have the skill to debate, or to argue, or any oration skills at all. This is how little kids argue.

When I graduated high school at 2017, most of my teachers were pretty cool and chill. It probably depends on the school district and all, but my teachers at least promoted more nuanced points of views, even if some were left leaning teachers. Although, I hear different of other schools across the country not faring as well the same, so it depends.

Because kids arent taught to prize anonymity anymore. Fuck they're not even taught the value of a screen name. All those classes on keeping yourself safe on the internet? Perhaps I really am an alien. Because man, do I not understand why the masses care about social media at all. At least with youtube the content is main reason to partake on the platform, but something like Instagram or Tik Tok they seem to only have "content" related to selfies and overly obvious product hocking.
