My suspicion is that if the charter amendment gets denied for the ballot in November, the city council will proceed with defunding much of the police budget instead, since they control that without input from citizens. The charter requires a police department exist and stipulates a ratio of officers per person, but that ratio has been under the requirement in practice for years and there are no consequences.

I was still somewhat in the normalfag sphere at that time, Big Bang Theory started when I was a senior in high school. This is mostly anecdotal, but the amount of people, and the spectrum of people, that suddenly got into "geek" culture was overwhelming that year. Suddenly people that had never touched a comic book in their lives were all about one character or another. People got rid of their contacts, started wearing ugly glasses on purpose, my school and family all started wearing those Kohl's/Walmart superhero shirts that have somehow remained popular for 15~ years now. Breaking Bad DID help that along, don't get me wrong, but if you look at the viewership for each show, you'll see that there's a MASSIVE difference in popularity.

They are talking to small business owners, all of whom are sticking up for the police and saying defunding them is insane. The Lyn36 gas station owner who had the 35W semi truck driver running an errand for him when he met the group of idiots on the highway testified to the fact that he was helping him — a black small business owner. Lloyd’s Pharmacy owner testified to the police finding a band of organized independent pharmacy owners who were held up at gunpoint. A business owner is saying his $500,000 in property taxes do not get them the services they pay for. Lloyd’s owner said the same thing. Lloyd’s owner is decrying the city of St. Paul protecting the soccer stadium over his pharmacy, which served the community every day. This is really incredible stuff to hear and sadly, most people never will.

The people who were responsible for this should be put to death. Their lives don't matter.

They always have to paint these individuals as canonized saints or some shit and act like they've never, ever done a single negative thing in their lives. Next we'll be hearing that George Floyd spent most of his days at the animal shelter playing with kittens and puppies, fostered guinea pigs in his home, handed out money and food at orphanages, made Kool-Aid for the people at the old folks home. Now, this guy sounds like he was manic or having some kind of mental health episode if that's truly what he said [gonna assume some paraphrasing] and to a point I can agree that police probably shouldn't be the guys you call on to deal with someone in a crisis. They should accompany EMTs to maintain control of the situation, because there are many different types of mental breakdown. There's freaking the fuck out, taking your clothes off and running around the neighborhood with a pan on your head mental breakdowns and there's also Adam Lanza style mental breakdowns. These situations can be better addressed but that's not what these fucking morons are concerned about and they're not acting in good faith. They just want to canonize people and make cops look like shitheads, that's all they're concerned about, and apparently from what they've been posting recently firefighters and EMTs are next.

I've worked with quite a few ex-cops, volunteer firemen and EMTs. They're all right up there with military veterans and ex-cons on the list of people you don't want to fuck with.

I think this guy was probably a good person, just too autistic to live when he got into a situation with a cop. I mean, I think we can all see Chris-chan going this way. It was basically fatal autism that caused him to spaz out when the cops questioned his summer ski mask wearing and spaz dancing. They had no way of knowing his head just gets cold on those 85 degree August nights. He would probably be alive if he didn't wig out when they touched him and just answered the question. They might have agreed afterwards to just escort him home. It happened to a white friend of mine for the crime of jogging at 3AM, except that he was polite and cooperative, and they just took him home.
