People are trying to cancel Mr. Wizard, the host of EVO, now.

Unfortunately, a majority of these claims are mostly unfalsifiable since they happened nearly two decades ago. The big take-away is the writer claims Mr. Wizard bet $20 the writer's penis was below average length fully erect when the writer was at the age of 17, and the writer obliged. The writer cites Viscant, another tournament player who is coincidentally known for beating LTG in a grudge match, so it will be interesting if Viscant confirms or denies this.

Viscant, on the other hand, is staying far away from all of this cancel drama, to the point where he hasn't even acknowledged it, which I believe is the best approach. In that regard, if the allegations above are false or overblown, I personally am not amused by the writer throwing the burden of proof onto Viscant when he clearly wants nothing to do with it, but that depends on if this is true or not.

As an aside, I highly recommend you look at the Smash Bros community thread even if you don't typically follow Smash, as they are also going through their rounds of rape allegations.
"20 years ago this guy made jokes about me having a small dick, so i pulled down my pants to prove him wrong!"
if anything this reflects badly on the accuser, not on the other guy lol

I'm kinda amazed they went after Mr. Wizard and appear to have succeeded in canceling him.

The guy was the effective Godfather of the FGC for a LONG time. He basically ran the major scene for years with EVO and his other connections. Whole tournaments would bend the knee to him. He's one of the main reasons why DOA and especially Smash took so long to be recognized and supported by the FGC.

His power has waned in the last few years with Evo going more business focused and companies finally stepping up and creating their own tournament/pro circuits, but still...

This is how these things work, the FGC became a large entity that influences millions of people across the planet and now other people want to control it so they can use it to influence people their way.
It doesn't matter how long you were part of it, or even if you're the one who created it yourself, they're going to drain out all the old blood to bring in new blood.
In the end, what happens is either the outsiders gain control of an influential entity or the entity dies and loses influence, thus the outsiders don't have to worry about it anymore.

When did the entire world turn into a massive collection of rats?

Welcome to #CancelCulture. People either make up shit or dig up shit that happened long ago just to get victim/sympathy points and to make the other person look bad mainly for personal gain and/or they have a massive hate boner for them.

Honestly, the fact that this thread grew quickly within 2 days just shows that the FGC has had issues for a long while now. I'm hoping it gets to a point where they completely destroy each other to where the FGC can be rebuilt into something better than what it currently is.

Wizard has been one of the main players in this FGCanceled thing and has been banning people from Evo for extremely minor stuff for the last few weeks. It's not surprising that some people wanted him to eat his own medicine.

If you want to understand more about this, you should look up how Stalin encouraged outing "Trotskyists"

Any chance of SonicFox getting meetoo'd by someones pet?
You're going to have to wait for Little Dommy there to say something questionable that people can latch on to. Once that happens I'm sure his love of gore porn is going to be front-and-center, along with a bunch of people coming out of the woodwork to accuse him of sexually harassing them.

Don't count on it, though. Between his "I'm black!" and "I'M GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!" shields, he'll have to say something monumentally stupid to get canceled.

Here's an old r/kappa post with a bunch of FGC stories. It includes this old one about Mr. Wizard that's hopefully a joke.

Mr. Wizard once told the story of how he was once contacted by the mother of a 12 year old kid who couldn’t register for the Smash Brothers tournament in time. The mother told Wizard she would do ANYTHING to get the kid in the tournament. The kid was able to enter the SSBB tournament. The details of the transaction are unknown.

What did I say? Rent free. Can't confirm but this might be the same Sirlin that is the developer of Fantasy Strike.

The FGC always sounded really cool as an outsider. A community coming together to compete in their favorite games live and getting to socialize face to face sounds like a wonderful thing. I'm sad to read this thread and see what's happening to it, but I suppose it's not extraordinary in the Current Year.
Once all this virus shit clears up I suggest going to your locals. You'd be surprised how much fun you can have. Just practice hygiene.

The FGC was always a complete shithole, people forget that because the current espergs woketard phase of the FGC is by far the worst that has happened to it. However, back in the day you had asshole cliques and people who thought they were hot shit just because they were good at a fighting game. New tech was also harder to spread back in the day so what some assholes did after finding about some new tech in Japan or Korea, depending on the game, they'd keep it to themselves in order to have an edge on the competition. You also had assholes hogging frame data for themselves and their cliques too. That's pretty much the only area where the modern FGC is better than what came before since people are more likely to share new tech and things like frame data is usually found within the game itself.
That all being said, with all the asshole cliques, seemingly never-ending beefs and shit that were running around the old FGC, there was still a sense of camaraderie, friendly competition and community to see who truly was the best underneath it all, now everyone is a vulture who is only looking out for himself. The Tekken Pakis are the only exception as far as I know, people like Arslan Ash were at first financed by their own community so they could compete in Evo, this was done by other Paki players chipping in to cover their best players' travel, attendance and living costs for the time they'll be competing.

How are there still people left to be canceled?

The entire FGC is cancelleable, basically.

Long story short - the FGC of the 1990s to the early 2010s was fucking rowdy and a lot of bad behavior from it that was common, normal, and expected. Virtually every FGC person alive basically carried this mentality into 2020. Many of these people went on to be larger parts of the FGC as well - commentators, developers, tournament/venue owners, etc.

Specifically the mantra was "Harassment is part of the FGC" - you would be called faggot/kike/bitch/tranny on the regular - Nigger was super common, but most white people avoided it. Trash talk was super common. Most of the FGC was broke so there was a lot of hustling/swindling going on - it was super common to steal tokens from arcades instead of buying them. Money Matches were common as were the IRL fist fights that frequently followed. It was not a place where girls were commonly welcome or flourished. Much of it was recorded and streamed - as this was the "birth" of e-sports.

There's no way there aren't hundreds of "cancel" worthy stories out there - there's virtually no chance if someone is "prominent" in the FGC that there are't 15+ stories/vidoes/etc of them doing shit that will get them cancelled in 2020. I'd also be shocked if previous incidents that got thrown to the side don't make their way back into the spotlight.
