Gaming with goons was really the only fun thing out of that forum past 2010. Sure as fuck can't do it now, they politicize EVERYTHING. Friend of mine got banned from the Warframe goon guild and discord for being "transphobic".

The strange thing about Goons in Eve Online:
They would spew the most racist, homophobic, trash talk of any alliance in Eve. I've been out of it for years now, but I distinctly remember dozens of Goons sockpuppeting accounts due to their mains getting suspended/banned for trash talk in 'local'. Usually prior or during major fights.
I believe the Eve Goons are distinctly different than the SA Goons. I don't think the 2 cultures mixed much.
The Mittani apparently knows LowTax and I think LowTax played Eve for a short while.

I've never heard this before in all my years making fun of SA, is this true? I know Yahtzee was turned down in 2008. I don't think MDE even existed that long ago.

I've talked to Sam on and off over the years, after discovering them on SA funnily enough. This info comes straight from him. His original dream was for MDE to be exclusive SA branded/hosted content similar to, like, Mega64 was for a while there or something, but would never hear back from any of the site owners/admins. I think EPG (Zach Parsons) finally told him to fuck off and stop emailing them, even, if I'm remembering the convo I had with him right -- gotta free up page space for the extremely unfunny Lovecraftian parodies he'd turn every single one of his articles into! I remember their videos sporadically being posted on the front page as part of a youtube feature series, but that was about it. Yet another thing SA really missed the boat on, especially since Sam and the boys probably would have worked for Lowtax's insultingly low pay in 2009 or whatever, since they had yet to pop off on 4chan.
