What is the normal without Corona?

Texas stated their ICUs were 97% full, but they are typically between 85-90% on any given normal day, so the 97% number was a bit misleading. There were undoubtedly more hospitalizations then normal, but it wasnt the world ending apocalypse they were predicting.

There was also the issue of they were using 97% of their NOMINAL capacity, not using any of their emergency capacity or alternative sites. Texas is still nowhere near italy levels.

I don't doubt that. The mindset is that everyone is afraid of an exponential growth in cases(which seems patently unlikely, cases already are already peaking if the current trend holds) which will push us beyond sustainable surge capacity. Remember, paranoia and panic don't care what is happening, it cares what might happen.

What’s the clinical picture of the patients you’re admitting? On this side of the pond we are seeing it become less likely to kill those infected - they’re seeing the same in Italy. Our death rates (As in percentage should are admitted and die) are dropping.
There was a swedish study out this week hinting that a large number of people may have existing immunity to some degree,
Musings: I’m wondering if this is slowing the burn through in itself - in effect it would mean that available population size within a given geographical area is correlated with maintained transmission. So not just density, But absolute number - that would mean the herd immunity needed would be lower in a smaller population and higher in a larger one. I wonder if any modelling has been done on this?
a lot of the UK is still quite restricted, this weekend they are reopening the pubs so god knows what will happen after that.
I'm really curious about the possibility of a degree of immunity already existing. My state had the third worst infection rate in the U.S., but our infection rate has dropped like crazy since April, even though more things have opened up and people are getting together more. We're still getting positive cases, but way fewer and a lot less deaths and hospitalizations.

I thought infection rate wasn't supposed to drop like that unless you 1)lockdown completely or 2) reach herd immunity. If you look at our numbers, there's no way we should be near herd immunity yet unless there were way more infections than anyone realized, but even with the hypersensitive antibody test that doesn't seem to be the case. Like sure, plenty infections went under the radar, but not that many.

I guess there's also the fact that we stopped putting the infected in nursing homes but it still seems like there's a missing piece of the puzzle.

Okay, this is a good time to explain how modern hospitals work. And how the media is playing dumb to fuck with the numbers and drive you into a panic.

A normal Hospital will have one dedicated ICU of 10-20 or so beds. These are the top end shits hit the fan worst case most intensive care patients. Often complex trauma’s, burns, etc. When the media propagandists are reporting Texas ICU numbers these are what they are reporting. Most ICU’s are kept at 80%+ full Just from normal operations.

Hospitals will have a number of Specialized units that will also act as ICU Overflow units. They are generally similarly equipped or can swiftly be converted by pulling hardware out of reserve. Things like the CCU, Surgical ICU. PICU, MICU, Burn Units, Post Op, Cardiac Step down floors, etc. A small to midsized modern hospital may have 100+ possible ICU level beds. Especially when you realize that COVID 19 never actually needs the full care and facilities of the ICU. Ventilators and Pneumonia can be managed on most elevated care floors.

If the media is feeding you statistics by percentages instead of raw numbers be suspicious. As this year has shown us, the media does not have your best interests in mind.

You kidding? 2020 is just getting started! Nurgle has only just begun to bestow his blessings upon us fleshbags!
I'm betting that this turns out to be either a weaker strain and/or a nothing burger, since the people who got it ate marmot meat. Those fuckers carry a shitload of diseases to be eaten safely.

EDIT: "The NCZD said it has analyzed samples taken from 146 people who it said had contacts with the two infected persons and identified 504 second-contact individuals." And no confirmed samples?

The "mayor" of Miami has imposed a curfew. Right....be interesting to see how many blow it off. Doesn't mean you can't have parties. Guests may need to stay over. If in an apartment complex, no sweat. Fellow residents need not go out on the street. Just like it was in Korea, when there was a midnight-5:00 a.m. national curfew.

The people who run Allan's Coffee and Tea in Corvallis, Oregon need never worry about any state police coming to their shop in the future, for any reason. Fuck them. Fuck the "governor" of Oregon, too.

Went to the commissary this morning. One of the ladies who works in the produce section said there was going to be a "protest" today, starting in Monterey, walking through a nearby town, and then walking to Salinas, about 12 miles from Monterey. She was concerned since she had a doctor's appointment in Salinas this afternoon. Told her not to sweat it. Doubted any of the "protesters" could walk that far. 🤣

Added: CA's little Hitler now says people can't sing or chant in church. But it's still okay to "protest". Mailed in my recall petition today.

Sorry if someone else already mentionned but what's behind the brains of the CNN staff to post a positive article about HCQ helping patients who suffers from Corona-chan better?

I noticed that: "Current Year" bullshit keeps building up, which is why things keep getting worse with each new decade since 2000.

I still hope this trend ends someday though.

It won't. People are getting more and more "woke" with every passing year.

Give it five years and we'll all be arrested for being associated with the infamous cyber-terrorism group known as Kiwi Farms.

This was a little while ago, but I remember hearing about my university doing virtual study abroads. You can't make this shit up.
I still get mail-ins from the organization associated with my major (despite letting my membership lapse a few years ago), and usually they have some big conference/expo in Las Vegas, but this year it's online. You can reserve your "virtual seat" starting at $200-something. Fuck that noise.

"This is Independence Day, which means we're gonna crack down even harder and take away even more of your independent rights."

The absolute two-faced audacity with this shit.

You want audacity? My governor, DeWine, in one of his press conferences about COVID this week said that masks are a symbol of freedom. This on top of blatantly gaming the numbers.

I havent paid attention to him, what did he do with the numbers this time?

And who is gonna enforce this? The police? The same police that are over this shit?
I was at wal-mart today and had my mask half worn because they be hard to breathe in and my mom wanted me to put the whole thing on because she doesn't want me to get into any trouble, especially with me being a young african american male. Thing is, none of the staffs or customers said shit about it. I know mom means well, but come on this shit's ridiculous
