I honestly don't feel like it's insight considering that, as you pointed out, it's a prevalent cycle of abuse. I feel like it seems insightful only because it's verboten to discuss on Twitter where the "conversation" is taking place. People should be pointing out his behavior and pushing him to get therapy if they really cared, but they either don't care or they're too scared to be seen as "blaming a victim". I wouldn't be shocked in the least if he's exposed as (at best) a controlling partner in the future, if the scene even continues to exist in any capacity after all this.

I really only wonder what happened or who he was honestly abused by to turn him so... Predatory? It feels odd calling him that, considering his age at the time, but his own self posted chat logs come off that way. Just everything with his pursuits and exposures feels calculated. It clearly wasn't Nairo, considering that's Zack's first known older pursuit, and Nairo comes off more submissive than anything from the logs, beyond a shit attempt at financial manipulation after everything went down.

I had a soft spot for the kid when he really broke onto the scene, but as time went on it just soured. It's not just the relationships he seems to manipulate either. There was a rather big controversy during a tournament he placed highly at, where he fought a Japanese Sonic player, match was discovered to have been played with altered settings, Japanese guy obv didn't have his heart in it for the rematches and lost, and when Zack went in for a handshake the other player didn't return it. That Japanese player kind of dropped off the US scene after the incident, iirc, after Twitter started wilding out about him being salty and not shaking the hand of a gay kid. People pointed out that if you watched the camera, the Japanese player had never noticed Zack going for a handshake. It was just an unintentional cringe moment that got blown up, and Zack rode that sympathy for a hot minute.

Obviously that's such a minor incident, but it's part of a larger pattern that I've noticed. I might just be making up conspiracies to amuse myself though, I don't know the kid, I'm just armchairing over here.

Yeah, you can't really multiplayer it, and there's not really people known for being a Persona content creator.

Persona drama is like someone larping as a Phantom Thief at an inappropriate time.

Pokémon has been a shithole of a community in every aspect for years, too, lest we forget some of our own cows. Off the top of my head, PK got her start in the more casual side of the series.
It just hasn't had the whole "dozens of people get exposed all at the same time" thing happen yet.

M2K has released a video statement talking about how he couldn't physically do the actions he's been accused of, due to an extremely flawed circumcision. Talks about how it's tied deeply into his depression. Honestly difficult to watch, he gets very emotional (for him). He shouldn't have had to expose such a private thing about himself, but his hand was forced after being #metoo'd for seemingly no reason at all.

He also said that he wrote about this in his book a few years ago, so he's not completely exposing something new about himself, but it's much more public now that he's made a video about it and it's clear he's not comfortable talking about it but felt he needed to in order to clear his name. Also proves it's not just some creative excuse he's pulled out his ass.

As if the allegation held any water before, considering this infamous picture of the dude:

The darkness in Pokemon goes pretty deep. Here's a video by Jim if you haven't seen it before, and this still gets ignored to this day. The website Bulbapedia used to have a hidden forum for porn and invited kids into it. After news of that broke the company started doing background checks on every person involved with running or working events.

I read his statement, and though he tried to shove in a sob story at the end, he didn’t really provide any substantial proof apart from bending the knee pretty easily to emotional appeal. I’ve watched his streams on occasion back before he moved to Facebook, and he didn’t seem like the brightest, but it did seem like his backstory holds weight. I’m inclined to believe victims and all but after all the shit that happened over the past year with Weeb Wars, the implication that these thots are just dragging no-name autists through the mud sickens me to my stomach. ZeRo isn’t even American by birth, if I recall correctly.

Zero was one of the few smash youtubers aside Etika that i used to follow back in highschool when smash 4 was getting its first hyped DLC characters like Cloud and Ryu. It's sad to know that he had some skeletons in his closet and i was tempted to defend him on twitter, but after reading his twitlong post i just can't. He has nothing left now, and there is a high chance that he might actually go for the rope.

So in the end there will be a cleansing, burned land, the reputation of the community completely unredeemable. This might actually be what kills the competitive scene of Smash after the horrific online and covid running rampant in america.

Well, I defended Zer0 because the allegations seemed shitty but now he's out and said he knowingly asked an underage girl to masturbate with ice for him. That's unacceptable, unless he too was underage imo. I don't think he was though? I do think it's pretty scummy how people wait until what they perceive as the perfect time to drop stuff like this, knowing it will do the most possible damage to someone. If something like this happens, report it when it happens or leave it alone. I won't be defending Zer0 anymore, though since there were no images/videos exchanged and he didn't actually touch anyone I don't think it's necessarily worth destroying his career over. It won't matter to them though, he admitted fault and once you've done that the cancel mob won't ever stop until someone dies.

Also, even M2K is getting accusations? That one I really do find hard to believe. I've personally talked to smashers who know him pretty well, and while he does get hit on sometimes Mew2King has always seemed damn-near asexual. I might as well just never bother with these games again if The Robot himself gets provably metoo'd. Sucks he had to talk about his fucked up dick, hope it's true for his sake.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but this whole situation really gets to something I dislike about video games in general. I've been a gamer for many decades, it's a fun hobby and I've invested a lot into it during that time. Around the time that these big conventions started popping up and sponsorships began appearing and the idea of being a "gamer" started to become trendy (or something), I really felt like my hobby left me behind. I still play the games and all that, but a lot of this stuff that gaming as a hobby has become is completely foreign to me and has been off-putting for years now.

And I look around and shit like this happens. Conventions and tournaments really seem to be a bad scene, especially the bigger ones. Having a tourney at a local store was always fun, but bigger didn't make this stuff better. And I mean, you go way back when people were having Donkey Kong or Pac-Man tournaments and even then that scene was... I dunno, the way I describe it is "greasy and stinky" and it's not appealing.

Not really sure what my point is here. It's just a weird happening overall and it seems like it keeps happening. The gaming tournament and convention scene really does seem to attract the worst types. And the advent of YouTube and sponsorships has not helped one bit. These people are basically carnies.
