Bigot Brigade Something Awful and Friends - The roller-coaster train-wreck embarrassing downfall of a Web 1.0 giant and its tick offspring like from Cloverfield

I just happened across this:

What stood out was this part
I brand the rebels, punks, and revolutionaries on the web. I’m a digital native who has been developing on the web since 1999. Currently the business and marketing manager for the 20-year-old Library of Congress-archived comedy website Something Awful (https://www.somethingawful.com), as well as a brand strategist, designer, and developer at Giants in the Sky (https://giantsinthesky.com).

How old is she again?

Uhhh supposedly like 4 or 5yo in 1999, but with all the work done on her face she could easily be 50. Either way she lyin

One of the major things Lowtax fucked up with is the Awful App. There's one for Android and iOS, it's free, been around for at least 8 years, and it doesn't display ads. By this point there are very few bugs, and I'm sure there are at least as many mobile users at this point as desktop.

I'm definitely not the first to say this, but SA should have worked with the developers (this would involve paying them), run ads, honor the no-ad upgrade and as a result more people would spring for that to make viewing on mobile easier.

Instead, SA has been running browser hijacking, animated, loud, and virus laden ads for years upon years while pretending that they have a special deal with their provider so they don't serve any of those types of ads. The fucking ad networks have optimized to serve shitty Play Store hijacks to mobile users while the site is nearly unreadable on mobile browsers and is looking like an eyesore by modern standards on desktop. Of course, plenty of bootlickers started buying the no-ads upgrade instead of adblocking when the viruses began showing up regularly on desktop, so that probably just encouraged him.

But this is nothing new. It's been clear that LowT doesn't give a shit beyond his next high and it's always been that way.

hey look a joke

How old is she again?

26, iirc

And yeah, Lowtax should have given the Awful App guy some dollars once more people started browsing on phones and tablets than on desktops. It still gets updated and A lot of people wouldn't browse SA at all if it didn't exist.

Sailor Cat has been all over QCS for the last week complaining about the mods and admins to such an extent that it was obvious they were grudge posting

Bobbie Wickham was the worst SA mod that wasn't a literal rapist/pedophile. She modded E/N at one point, but her idea of advice was to just keep comparing people in the posts to her own family/former friends, all of whom were terribly abusive, of course. Because of that she projected like crazy and neither her advice nor her moderating was objective or grounded in reality at all. She was finally demodded when goons actually started some backlash over the thread where she kept ignoring the fact that OP beat hist kids, because she wanted to focus on the OP's wife being a narcissist.

Hahaha Bobbi is a tyranny mod who FAU didn't want to push against my favorite was when FAU got called on out on being able to ban a good who fucked vietnamese prostitutes but gosh darn need to call a meeting for child beating

Also the yakiesaroo gas thread is filled with goons Troon fans talking about queer Street culture and selling sex for drug and money

One thing I can see delaying, if not outright killing, the sale is the financial statements.

If you were planning to sell a business you would make sure you had these available, but Lowtax wasn't planning to sell SA and I doubt that up to date financial statements exist.
You bring up a very important point. Sale of the business means signing over every single asset and liability: All the bank accounts, all the intellectual property, all the websites, all the hardware and software, any loans or lines of credit in the business’s name, and so on. Those would all be on the financial statements if they were up to date.

As it stands, with what we’ve seen of Richard’s lifestyle, there’s a high likelihood that he’s too fucking fried to remember what his business has or owes. Keeping up to date financials means recording every transaction made with business funds, including all personal draws on the business's account, and he’s likely too fucking lazy to follow some basic guidelines such as not directly using your business’s debit card to buy all your booze and pies (in order to track where the money is going you should first transfer money into a personal account, then use that for your personal shit). Shit, there could be business debts in collections that Richard forgot about.

Selling the site will require a lot of work on Richard’s part, and we all know how averse he is to that.

If Jeffery renegs I'm honestly tempted to try to set up a Kickstarter or something to buy the forum.

I don't want to run the fucking thing; I just don't want internet history to dissappear. Scrub the userdata to just usernames and avatars and torrent the whole mess. Also buying it, shutting down the hugbox and distributing the evidence of the autism that was SA would probably make the modern goons very angry.

Of all the goon hills to die on, it's amazing that completely worthless fucker chose that one.

It's probably Low-T who reneges and I don't think he even actually intends to sell it at all. I think he's just stringing everyone along while trying to figure out how to worm his way out of the situation he's in. He'll probably continue to dither until it's obvious he's not going through with it.

She's lying about her age for certain, unless she's claiming she was somehow influencing the web at 4 or 5, and if you read through that Quora/archive link, she has a very simplistic syntax and grasp of language for someone with her supposed educational and professional background. She uses very short, simplistic sentence structures, which often verge on rambling. If you read her Quora, every response to the question invariably begins with some kind of self-validation statement before answering the question, such as:

These are not the answers of someone who has accomplished anything in their field, rather typically they are the responses of someone who is trying to validate their place in the professional landscape, yet feels guilty about outright lying. "I'm in [X space]" is the kind of answer one responds with to benign questions who aren't even establishing credibility when you're trying to create an irrefutable claim you work in some area but actually don't, or can't point to something you've done. A home run answer would be "I'll direct you to [previous project I've worked on] and how I handled that strategy and use that as a blueprint for my response." But since no example exists, here we are. Am I nitpicking? Perhaps. But any of us whom have interviewed others or looked at padded resumes know what I'm talking about. It's a very familiar trope.

Doing some digging, it's clear she has a BA from a 4 year college (Chapman University) but no real work experience that can be verified in any way, which should be easy, because 100% of it is supposedly online.

I personally don't feel like she has any real resume worthy accomplishments, only the kind of stuff they teach you to stretch as hard as possible in your senior year of college to pad university employment statistics after graduation. I'm stating the obvious to everyone here, but I do not believe she had any actual plan to market or manage Something Awful at all. And it goes without saying I don't think Rich embraced her (literally or figuratively) for her...marketing experience. She just seems like someone with their own sad set of issues, eternally online, that was willing to shack up with a man 20 years her senior addicted to painkillers and with his own set of mental issues to gain some sense of notoriety and belonging.

I despise, yet pity them both.
