I don’t disagree with your point, but it’s hard to get off the internet when your government slaps you with a stay at home
order.
Go play a video game have sex try painting or just chill if can in your backyard listening to music read a book here's a few suggestions for you

It matters now but it won’t in five years time. I don’t say that to brush it aside, but to give context. What matters when you leave school is the path you take and how you react to life. Nobody cares about things like that once you’re a few years out of school. What dictates success is being smart enough (not even genius level, just smart enough to be a little ahead) and then a combination of work, good judgement, personal skills, and grit.
It sounds like a cliche but it isnt. Nobody looks at my CV and only judges my list of degrees. They look at where I’ve worked, what I’ve worked on and how I present myself, and talk to people I’ve worked with over the years. People don’t hire people on their grades past the first year or two.
So dont sweat the perfection. Grit and an ability to react to setbacks and get back up will get you far further. Get some treatment and get back up. Allow yourself to be annoyed a bit, then move on

The situation around corona is concentrating people’s mental states - it’s stopping people from going out, blowing off steam and releasing tension. It’s stopping people from getting out into nature (at the risk of sounding like an old hippy, nature is important for the psyche.) There is an epidemic of mental ill health brewing under these conditions of lockdown. Humans are not meant to sit indoors all day for weeks on end.

I know, it’s not easy. Find something to do with your hands that absorbs the mind as well and creates a state of ‘flow’ (apart from the obvious ;) .) draw, paint, carve, print lino, sew, paint 40k figures, learn a language, read that ridiculously thick book on something obscure you've never had time to start. Restore something old. Anything - what doesn’t matter, as long as it’s absorbing and you enjoy it.

I’m hearing more and more people say similar things and the level of mental illness, stress etc is alarming. A lot of people are very close to snapping. Don’t snap - don’t be manipulated, find some calm.
The gun range is always fun too.

Thanks, that's the first actual reassuring thing someone's said about that.

I know I said I'd stop threadshitting, but hear me out:

Didn't know about this until last December, but when I was seven years old I got professionally IQ tested by the school counselor and ended up getting 148 (WISC-IV, so 3.2 standard deviations above the mean, or approximately 1 in 1456). I was double-majoring in CS and Math with a 3.7 GPA and perfect CS major GPA, and was on track to graduate a year early. Truly a real accomplishment of mine that would live up to that IQ result.

But now the switch to online tainted it. Now there's a massive asterisk next to my achievement, and I dropped the math major so I just have CS. Sure, I'll still have a degree, but it won't be anywhere near as impressive as it originally was. To pour salt in the open wound, I've heard leftists literally tell me I'm just mad because I was doing better than others. No fucking SHIT, fuck your shitty communism where nobody's allowed to stand out.

It doesn't matter if everything's repealed tomorrow, it doesn't change the fact that the incident sullied the big accomplishment I was so proud of. To quote Linkin Park of all things, "when the paper's crumpled up, it can't be perfect again." I did want to do other things, but saying you finished a CS and Math double-major a year early with a 3.7 GPA is a pretty damn big accomplishment you'd put on your life's footnote. Really hard to think of another way to "prove" myself in the same way. All I have is some fucking childhood IQ score.

That's 90% of the reason I'm so upset.
It's pretty sad that your "greatest accomplishment in life" is related to your intelligence and you still can't learn here, in an environment outside the classroom, not to shit up the thread with your narcissism and whinging about how the leftists are personally targeting your genius self because they're threatened by your big bad STEM GPA.

You’re welcome. If you’d like a book recommendation, how about ‘endurance.’ Written about Shackleton’s Antarctic expedition. Proper old school british grit. It’s a cracking story - success against the odds by just keeping going and keeping calm. He went through hell and didn’t lose a single man. Amazing story.

Yeah, I have no idea how I haven't been threadbanned yet.

Never forget that rumination (overthinking about negative things in your life) is psychologically harmful. And with the lockdowns everyone has a hell of a lot more time to do that. I've noticed what people everywhere talk about is much more negative, be it IRL, here on the Farms, or on other sites, the majority of it being negativity about current events and not just from one political side. Even Null was saying this site becoming more about politics was making it less fun. Current events are doing a number on everyone's mental health.

To add to what @Otterly said:
Going to avoid further shitting up the thread about this particular thing, but all I see are leftists in charge who actively want to fuck me over and force me to be average and want me dead.
Keep in mind that at 20 years old, you're not important enough to be on the radar of any leftists in charge. Nothing done is about you, personally, even though it may have an effect on you and your life.

I found this open letter written by international students regarding the recent changes ICE has made because of the virus. Number 10 is interesting because it specifically mentions OSU’s relationship to China.

Why am I not surprised The Ohio State University is up to it's eyeballs in Chinese money. Still doesn't help them beat the SEC.

On to another Ohio note, the Butler County Health department is also refusing to enforce DeWine's mask mandate. Doesn't surprise me in the least, Butler county is kinda based. Fortunately, I do most of my shopping in Clermont and Eastsiders have no time for the manlet's bullshit.

I'm aware of that, it was just a shitty metaphor. I'm not actually schizophrenic. Also, I've calmed down a bit.

Yeah, rumination is exactly what earned me the GAD diagnosis. Though it's never been anywhere close to this severe.

@FuckedUp

Don't listen to these people. Here's three easy steps to feeling better.

1. Buy a copy and read this.
2. Download and read this.
3. Purchase firearms.

Heh. Amazon trying to explain away why they've still got it for sale in paperback only.

Hint: The real reason is that buying it from Amazon will get you put on a NGO list someplace -- and you were forced to confirm your physical location, too. Hell, even loading the page will probably get your account flagged.

That would be a terribly sneaky bastard tactic, if only they hadn't alienated so much of the population on masks. Their back and forth on mask effectiveness and necessity and the virus' cases itself has many people flipping the state off at any opportunity. Outside of the elderly I hardly see anyone wearing them, even workers I often see without them.

What will they do when they find a black person not wearing a mask?

They're still sheepled up here in New England. Masks everywhere, still an air of emotional blackmail potential for not wearing one in stores.

Also, posted this in A&H but I figure it is very relevant here: Jair Bolsonaro is taking hydroxychloroquine and is already feeling better. A high-profile world leader at age 65 recovering quickly thanks to this pill would be a real nice hard welt-inducing slap across the face of the MSM, Dr. Fauci, and faggotshit pharma execs who have been shilling hard against it the last few months. Makes my blood boil enough that these fuckers are intentionally prolonging this virus with goalpost-moving and fearmongery.

Another article on situtation in Iran. It's really bad.

The number of deaths right now is much higher than during the first wave. And the victims are of all ages, the young as well as the elderly, even children. Mayors and local government officials asked for help from the capital of our province but we don’t have beds or doctors; we don’t have anything to give them. People are dying without the care that we were able to provide even just a month ago.

AP reports that US supplies of PPE are running short again. The Daily Beast reports on testing in Arizona. Tucson mayor says they may have to send patients to other states.

It has been proven through the magic of statistics that deaths are NOT increasing with case count, and that states are, rather predictably, overreacting. Again. Police in many of those states refuse to enforce these laws and lawsuits are already flying.

You would know this if you had bothered to actually read the various pieces of evidence posted in this thread.

Here's the case and death count in Texas.

If there is one thing people should learned from this thread, from the very beginning, is the explosive, exponential growth of outbreaks. One day, you got a handful of cases, by the end of the month your digging mass graves.

One thing to keep in mind that this is an election year. The US always gets a little crazy every 4 years. Corona chan is making it worse because people have more time on their hands to get crazy.

Also, it's mostly drama whores on Twitter and other social media. They REEE to get attention. They aren't trying to have discussions. They're trying to get their 15 seconds of fame. It's great entertainment to make fun of them, but you shouldn't take what they say seriously.

Not all liberals are batshit insane. I lean left and I think the far left stuff is nuts, too. They may be loud, but they are in the minority. And a lot of liberal people, myself included, aren't going to vote for crazy policies that hurt our own interests. I think there will be enough of us who keep pulling away that either the DNC will have to rein the crazy in or they will never win another election.

Going to avoid further shitting up the thread about this particular thing, but all I see are leftists in charge who actively want to fuck me over and force me to be average and want me dead. But I do learn well outside of a classroom environment, in fact I learn best outside of one.

Life is like a nature documentary. Bad shit is always going to be headed your way. Whatever you do. Don't fucking panic and freeze when you see the lion coming for you. You don't have to be the fastest gazelle but you better not be the slowest.

Academic achievement has an extremely limited shelf life once you graduate. Like a new car. Reasonably good interpersonal skills, common sense and adaptability trump a high score on a test. Doesn't matter if your IQ is over 9000 if you are a raging autist who can't lead or influence people it's a net negative.
