From What I understand of Canuck prisons, they at least make it look like they try to keep fights from happening but they do anyways for a number of reasons but mostly incompetence.

The US prison system has excellent healthcare, unironically. Most of what people think of US prisons are from 90s and 00s movies. The prison system, especially federal, has been cleaned up immensely. Fuck, you even get the new meme Hep C cure in prison. That course of meds is tens of thousands normally.

Due to lack of funding I'd bet Canadian prisons are probably worse. The Canadians haven't had a magnifying glass on them for the last 20 years telling them to clean the fuck up.
