I'm close to the Wilde side of that question, i.e. that art should not have any purpose other than itself, and that if it does and that detracts from its merits, the art has harmed itself and become, instead, some form of propaganda.

Where the line is drawn and where an extrinsic purpose enhances, rather than detracts from the artistic value of the work is pretty radically subjective, though. It isn't as if Tolstoy's larger messages somehow marred his work, and it's hard to imagine War and Peace without its deeper underlying messages. It literally doesn't exist without its historical context and its message.

To pick another Russian, how about Notes from Underground? Is there a single positive message in this? Reading it makes you feel terrible, every thought in it is negative, the main character is repulsive, and what is worse, you may identify with this absolutely terrible, self-defeating person. Does this have a purpose other than itself?

This made me think of something. Western feminists always stress that sexism/rape culture in the west is the worst and the world and they seem to undermine its presence in other countries. (you can't say that muslims/asians/indians/mexicans/africans commit a lot of rape in their countries, thats racist). The end result is places where there is an actual rape culture and rape is actually prevalent get overshadowed so people can focus on western white feminists and their "problems".

Other feminist subreddits don't talk global issues because it's not affecting them. They don't understand that they are fortunate in many ways women in other countries are not. Most women in the USA have not had sulfuric acid thrown in their faces for rejecting a mans marriage proposal for example. There are just some things people will never know.

To be honest I wouldn't be surprised. Remember ageplaypenpals and the shaddy bardfinn guy? After all, reddit expanded the meme of it's actually hebeebophilia so fucking kids is ok.
Also, look at how the antikids bias poison the site. Harpies and deranged loons screeching at normal kid behaviour on childfree, harassing children because they dare to like fortnite and not knowing who Keanu is... etc.
I wonder how many cp subs are hiding on this hellsite, maybe they are honeypots, but with these users and admins it could be genuine.

That's the thing, though. The radical Ts don't want acceptance from cis people, and they insist that any trans person who does just want to fit into society and live their life is a cis bootlicker that doesn't deserve to transition and should kill themselves.

Reddit jumped the shark long ago. Fuck them. Basic psychology should tell them this isn't going to "fix" whatever they want silenced & will in fact aggravate it. At least there's Voat & Said.it (and here I guess if you like this kind of place). 😆

I did call it though. When that Ohanian dude stepped down & got all that criticism for letting "hateful" subs remain all these years, I knew there would be blowback when his replacement took over. Just maybe not this extreme. They only care about their shareholders/other corporate overlords, not open discourse. So long to the idea of an information superhighway. When vast swathes of information can be wiped out because somebody's fee-fees got hurt, it's clear this social media thing has gone too far in colonizing the interwebz.

Also, fuck troons. I used to dislike you, now I hate you openly. Congrats.

The utter facade of "I hate myself because I am fat - but you are fat and that is a-ok to me".

People with eating disorders are in constant competition with everyone around them, everyone fatter is reverse thinspo and everyone thinner is thinspo. The one user honest about that was dogpiled with downvotes in the comments.

The ED communities have had a trend towards fat acceptance, but it is truly just to exploit them. Even MyProAna and ED discords have obese people posting full body posts with everyone fawning with support, but clearly simultaneously using them as "reverse thinspo". When you're in competition with everyone, of course you'll want to rig it by having fat people around you.
